We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Meredith Featherstone a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Meredith , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I discovered my purpose through a series of life experiences, each one contributing to the bigger picture of who I am today. It all began with my love for skincare, which led me to pursue a career as an Esthetician. In my younger years, I enjoyed the ritual of caring for my skin, creating routines that not only improved my complexion but it made me feel good inside. Over time, I found immense fulfillment in helping others achieve similar results. It wasn’t just about improving their skin—it was about offering a space for them to relax, unwind, and decompress from the stresses of everyday life. The genuine appreciation I received from my clients made me realize I was making a positive impact in their lives.
Around the same time I started my career, I began to explore meditation and delve into spiritual and psychic development. This opened up a deeper journey of self-discovery and connected me to a beautiful community of people who imparted profound wisdom. But I still had much to learn, and many of those lessons came in the form of challenges. I began to avoid facing them, distracting myself with busyness and surrounding myself with others that didn’t fully support my growth. I fell away from the things I loved and was no longer pursuing what truly mattered to me. I found myself caught in “hustle mode,” trying to keep up with everyone else, which only added more stress to my life and relationships. I had completely lost touch with who I was and the things I loved to do.
This went on for years, but in the back of my mind I was being nudged to look at and address the thoughts and emotions I was pushing away. During this time of reflection, I realized that deep emotional healing was necessary. I had to address childhood wounds and clear out negative beliefs I had unknowingly carried with me for many years. This process of self-awareness and healing became a cornerstone in my personal growth. It was through understanding my own story and clearing these emotional blockages that I began to reconnect with my true self and step more into my purpose.
In my search for clarity, I explored various methods of self-reflection and healing, which led to profound personal insights. Some of these experiences, though challenging, helped me confront the patterns I had unknowingly created. They sparked deep introspection and pushed me to make small, but significant changes in my life. I began to reconnect with my inner self by curating my social media feed, focusing on the people and content that inspired me, practicing mindfulness through journaling, painting, and outdoor walks. These shifts gradually created a space for growth and healing.
About two years ago, I experienced a powerful moment of realization: I had been living a life shaped by fear and limiting beliefs, a life that wasn’t truly mine. It felt as though I had woken up from a dream, and everything around me seemed misaligned. My relationships, my job—nothing felt in harmony with who I was becoming. I was forced to make some incredibly difficult decisions, not knowing what the future held, but understanding that I needed to unravel my old life in order to build something new.
Through this process, I gained clarity about my true purpose: to bring harmony to the world by creating beauty through peace and stillness. By embracing these qualities within myself, I have discovered my true essence. I believe that when we turn inward, we gain the clarity to navigate life with greater ease and step into our full sovereignty. Sharing our gifts with the world allows us to align more deeply with our purpose. As we walk this path, we inspire others to do the same, and together, we can create a more beautiful and harmonious world.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Currently, I am focusing on my soul-led business, Enlightened Esthetics, which was born from a deep calling to reinvent my life. It’s an embodiment of my passions for skincare, energy healing, and spirituality, all woven together to help others reconnect with the peace they carry within. What excites me most about this work is the integration of energy healing with my skincare services, for those who feel called to it. I use crystals as a tool to harness and balance the energy flow within the body, helping to clear energetic blockages and allowing higher frequencies to enter. This approach not only takes care and nurtures my clients’ skin through facial treatments but also promotes a deeper sense of well-being with the energy work I offer.
Through this process, I’ve come to realize that we are our own healers. I am here simply to hold space for others, helping them recognize that they too have access to higher frequencies of unconditional love and healing. The work I do isn’t just about providing services; it’s about guiding others back to their own power, by going within for their answers, and encouraging them to embrace their own healing journey.
In each session, I offer a unique experience that combines healing with some light guidance. I may give suggestions or practices to help my clients improve their daily lives, offering insight and support on their journey. I may also use oracle cards to further guide them and help them gain clarity on what’s next for their growth. I feel deeply called to share these spiritual gifts, and the more I heal myself, the more I discover new ways to serve and support others.
What makes my work special is the connection I create with my clients. I’m not just providing a service, I’m creating a sacred space for them to feel seen, heard, and deeply relaxed. As I continue to grow and expand my business, I’m excited to explore new ways to integrate holistic practices that align with my values.
Beyond my business, I make it a priority to nurture my creativity and well-being outside of work. Whether it’s spending time with loved ones, pursuing hobbies that bring me joy, or simply having time to recharge. I’ve learned that taking care of myself helps me maintain a healthy flow of energy in both my personal and professional life.
A key lesson I’ve learned along the way is the importance of embracing creativity and playfulness as part of my healing process. I’ve found that by tapping into that childlike joy—whether it’s through art, nature, or dancing—I’m able to heal parts of myself that need love and attention. It’s through these moments of play that I reconnect with my true self, and remind myself that healing can be both fun and transformative.
Reflecting on my journey, I can see how much my life has transformed. Before this shift, I was stuck in survival mode, trapped in a monotonous routine that left me feeling disconnected and unfulfilled. Today, every day feels different, I now experience life from a deeper place with more freedom and peace. The work I do allows me to express myself authentically, and it’s through cultivating self-acceptance that I’m able to embrace both myself and others with compassion and understanding.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say, resilience, compassion, and acceptance were the most impactful qualities on both my personal journey and my business. Resilience helped me navigate setbacks and persist in growing Enlightened Esthetics, especially when things didn’t go as planned. Compassion has been crucial in how I connect with clients, offering them care and understanding, while also reminding me to show myself kindness. Acceptance taught me to embrace the ups and downs of my journey and trust in the process, even when things feel uncertain.
For those starting out, my advice is to nurture these qualities. Resilience helps you overcome challenges, compassion strengthens connections with others and yourself, and acceptance allows you to trust the process, knowing that growth often comes through both the highs and the lows.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I usually have to step back and remind myself to take it slow. I break everything down into smaller, more manageable tasks and just focus on one thing at a time. I also find that taking short breaks, doing some deep breathing, or spending a little time outdoors can help me clear my head. The biggest thing I remind myself is that it’s okay not to have everything figured out immediately.
For anyone feeling overwhelmed, my advice is to take it one step at a time. Don’t be afraid to rest when you need to, and don’t hesitate to lean on others for support. It’s perfectly okay to not have everything sorted out right away.
Ultimately, I’ve learned that healing is a journey. We all have the power to heal ourselves—though it takes courage, deep reflection, and a lot of compassion. As we heal, we make room for others to do the same. I’ve experienced firsthand how the process of self-discovery and healing leads us to a place of greater resilience, compassion, and alignment with our true nature. When we take the time to deeply look at ourselves, not only do we transform our own lives, but we also contribute to a ripple effect of healing and love that can spread throughout the world. This is how we truly make a difference—by starting with ourselves.
