Meet Meredith Moore

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Meredith Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Meredith, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I think that it’s easy to be a young entrepreneur and feel like you don’t “deserve” certain opportunities. It’s such a leap of faith to open your own business, but at the end of the day, you do it because you believe in yourself–and, I do! If I let imposter syndrome overcome me, I would never see any growth in my business. I’m constantly saying “yes” to opportunities that require me to do things for the very first time. You just make it happen. I have confidence in my team, and I have confidence in myself, and I know that we can put our minds together and create some pretty magical things. On the other side of a new experience are there things we would have done differently? Absolutely. Every single time. But, saying “yes” to things that force you to expand is where you start to define your capabilities, and I think that’s a beautiful thing.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My business is incredibly multi-faceted. I always intended on having a boutique and offering daily flower arrangements, but we do so much more. We have come to specialize in weddings and events, and we even offer event planning services now. We also love to host workshops with other local businesses, and invite them to pop up at our shop as solo pop ups, or as a part of larger vendor markets. Really, we do a little bit of everything in here!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think that the three most important qualities that I have that have been most impactful in my journey are my work ethic, my flexibility, and my ability to dream big. I’ve always been willing to do just about anything to accomplish a task I put my mind to, and this has allowed me to have the perseverance necessary to problem solve through countless situations. I’ve ben willing to put hours and hours and hours of my time to perfecting my craft, sometimes missing out on things that I would’ve loved to do or go to. Being willing to sacrifice for what you’re trying to accomplish is key, especially in the early days. I also think that dreaming big has been a huge part of my journey. I’m not afraid to have big, lofty goals and expectations, and I’m usually able to reach them by working hard.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

I think that going all in on your strengths is a great way to see pay off in your goals, but I think you also have to stay realistic about the type of support you need and what might be complimentary in a team member. For example, I know I am a huge creative with lofty ideas and wild dreams, and I’m not always great at communicating those ideas. My manager on the other hand is an excellent communicator–she’s super effective and efficient in getting my ideas across. When she came along, I knew she was my perfect compliment and that, together, we could really accomplish anything.
