We were lucky to catch up with Mher Khachatryan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mher, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding your purpose is like creating art—you take risks, embrace uncertainty, and allow yourself to feel deeply. Just like drawing, where you trust your instincts and let your hand move freely, discovering your purpose requires courage, exploration, and a willingness to embrace failures as part of the process.
Your purpose isn’t something external you need to search for—it’s already within you. It’s in the way you express yourself, the way you inspire others, and the way you contribute to the world through your art and teaching. Your life’s purpose is to be who you truly are, to create without fear, and to share that creative energy with others.
Much like a blank canvas, purpose unfolds as you take action. You might not always know where each stroke will lead, but trusting the process allows the bigger picture to emerge. Failures aren’t mistakes—they’re brushstrokes that add depth and character to your journey.
So, if you ever question your purpose, close your eyes, breathe, and feel the joy of simply being. Your art, your school, and the lives you touch are all reflections of your purpose. Keep creating, keep sharing, and trust that you’re exactly where you need to be.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
When I was a child, I dreamed of other worlds—a place where challenges and doubts were met with the magic of endless possibilities. My dreams were filled with whispers of another dimension, a realm where every star held a secret and the smoke of my imagination became a bridge to that unseen place.
I began to paint smoke because, to me, it wasn’t just smoke. It felt like energy transforming into matter—a gentle reminder that our world is more than what meets the eye. With every brushstroke, I wondered: Is it just smoke, or is it a kind of energy, a portal to another dimension? I often felt that within the swirling patterns of smoke, we might catch a glimpse of another world—a place where the past and future merge in a soft, hazy glow.
This simple act of painting became a way to explore my own dreams. Each painting is a journey, an invitation to look beyond the everyday and see the mystery that lives within the smoke. It’s a reminder that even in our moments of doubt, there’s a hidden energy, a spark that connects us to something larger—a beautiful, ever-changing universe waiting to be discovered.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe that 3 powerful mindsets that can transform how we experience life, are being in peace with past, love the present and be excited about the future.
Releasing the past allows us to grow without being weighed down by regrets or old wounds. Enjoying the present keeps us grounded and appreciative of what we have right now. Being excited about the future fuels motivation and hope. Mastering these skills creates a balanced, fulfilling life.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
My parents believed in me, when they did’t have money for lots of things, they paid for my art classes and made sure that I keep pursuing my dream. Even though we had to borrow many for food, there idea of success was to make sure that I do what I love.
