Mia , so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
Honestly? I keep my head high, my playlists tighter, and my vibes even higher. Not everyone will understand your vision—and that’s okay. I’m not here to please everyone, I’m here to move the right rooms, spark the right energy, and stay true to my sound.
For every “you can’t,” I’ve got a “watch me.” I turn doubt into drive and noise into motivation. I’ve built my brand on confidence, connection, and consistency—and no shade can dim what’s meant to shine.
So I let them talk, while I keep showing up, leveling up, and letting the music speak louder than the opinions.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Absolutely! I’m DJ Mia Kapree—an open format DJ based in Atlanta, known for creating unforgettable vibes and seamless blends that fuse hip-hop, R&B, afro-beats, soul, and whatever the moment calls for. Whether it’s a high-energy celebration, a luxury brand activation, or a more intimate lounge vibe, I’m all about curating a sound that fits the room, connects with the people, and keeps the energy flowing.
What’s most exciting to me is the power of music to transform a space. I love watching a room come alive seeing people light up when that one track drops, blending generations and cultures on the dance floor, and knowing I played a part in creating that magic. That’s the real reward. My sets are never just about pressing play they’re about reading the room, building an experience, and leaving a lasting impression.
What sets my brand apart is the intentionality. I bring a polished, stylish, and inclusive approach to every event. I’ve had the honor of spinning for major brands like Google, Microsoft, Sephora, and Woodhouse Spa, which has taught me how to create soundscapes that elevate the vibe while still aligning with brand identity. Whether it’s a private party, corporate event, or festival stage, I always show up with purpose, professionalism, and presence.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding both creatively and professionally. I’m exploring opportunities to collaborate with more brands, curate my own signature events, and expand into new markets. I’m also working on some exclusive DJ mixes and visual content that reflect my style, my story, and the culture that inspires me. There’s a lot more coming, and I’m excited to keep evolving while staying true to my roots.
At the end of the day, I just want people to feel something when I play to dance, to remember, to connect. That’s the mission. That’s the vibe.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Confidence – In this industry, you have to believe in yourself before anyone else does. There were times I walked into rooms where I was the only woman, the only creative, or the only one who didn’t “fit the mold.” But I showed up anyway, knowing my talent and my energy would speak louder than any doubt. Confidence doesn’t mean you never feel nervous it means you trust yourself enough to move through it. For anyone just starting out: protect your self-belief, speak life into your journey, and don’t wait for validation. Show up like you belong, and eventually, the world catches up.
2. Adaptability – Every event, every crowd, every set is different. Being able to pivot on the fly, with grace is a game changer. Whether it’s switching vibes mid-set, dealing with last-minute changes, or just staying open to new opportunities, flexibility has kept me growing and elevating. My advice? Stay curious, stay ready, and treat every experience as a chance to learn. The more tools you have in your bag, the more rooms you can move.
3. Intention – I don’t just press play I think about why I’m playing what I play. Every detail matters: the tone, the timing, the transitions, the energy. I approach every set like storytelling through sound. I’ve learned that when you lead with intention, your work becomes more than just a service it becomes a signature. For those early in their path: don’t chase trends build a brand rooted in who you are and what you want people to feel. That’s what lasts.
No matter what stage you’re at, just remember: consistency builds confidence, connection builds community, and clarity builds a brand. Keep showing up, keep growing, and stay true to your sound.
