Meet Mia Mirzayan

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mia Mirzayan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Mia, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

Definitely my parents, who are huge inspirations to me. Specifically my dad, who is a first-generation immigrant from Iran, who started his own companies as an adult after moving to the US. My mom and dad owned a dental practice together, and watching them build something from the ground up, into a successful business was always very motivating for me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I come from two very different backgrounds: Armenian and Korean, which has greatly shaped my values and personality today. I was raised in Los Angeles, and moved to NYC shortly after graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree from Skidmore College in Upstate New York.

Currently, I work full-time as a Creative Strategist for an agency, but in my free time, I have 3 additional jobs. I’m a UGC Creator and create DTC ads and organic content for brands every month, in addition to building my own socials. I created an app called ‘Creator Vault’, which serves as a one-stop-shop for creators where they can: review brands and agencies, ask questions, report scams, and they will soon be able to apply to UGC opportunities through the app! Lastly, I co-founded a networking company ‘CreateHers’, and host 3-4 networking events per year for content creators and influencers.

I’m the type of person where what you see is what you get. I am very true to myself and love being creative, especially when it comes to content. I love being real with my audience and giving them content that makes them feel heard and uplifted.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The main and most important one was having 100% unwavering faith in myself — that I could accomplish whatever I set my mind to. Where I am right now in my career was my DREAM 1 year ago. I showed up everyday for myself and failed so many times, but I let that motivate me instead of stop me.

The second skill would be my willingness to learn every day. Staying a student in all aspects has allowed me to grow and learn so much, in addition to educating others. You can never know everything and I always try to expand my knowledge when it comes to marketing and I’m learning more everyday!

The third quality would be honesty and realness. Especially in the creator community, it can be intimidating to be 100% honest, raw, and real with your community, but I actually found that to be my greatest strength and what set me apart from others.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

My parents have always celebrated my creativity and entrepreneurial mindset and they have supported every step of my career. It’s kind of scary to have your one and only kid decide to move to NYC 1 month after college, to start a career in freelance content creation with 0 backup plan — but they believed in me and have supported every endeavour I have experienced since starting.
