Meet Mia Tarazi

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mia Tarazi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Mia, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I believe I get my resilience from overcoming a lot of personal battles in life. I have always been a artist since I was young, developing my style, while going through personal battles throughout childhood that took me away from art and creativity, sometimes having a lack of resources only made me more reliant on myself and my creativity to help achieve my art dreams. Even when I thought I had achieved my dreams by getting into a great art program in college, I was struck with the reality that classes don’t really work for me I struggled immensely had a hard time keeping my grades up and would break down throughout art critiques. I struggled with mental health to the point that I had to drop out. This made me believe that Art wasn’t for me and while dealing with anxiety and depression I didn’t create at all for about four years afterwards. Once the pandemic hit I had some time to myself to be able to slowly get back into my creativity, I created my TikTok page called Mia’s Astro Art, where the community was uplifting and supportive. I started creating again nonstop, started developing my skills even better than they were before, I taught myself a lot of new styles of art and how to create products from my art, and from all that, I have learned that I am my own greatest teacher and that I learned the best when following through and teaching myself for the past four years Mia’s Astro Art has been a slow building business where I have done everything on my own from developing my personal style, to creating products, to content creation, to teaching others how to paint pour and do fun paintings. I believe all my battles help me gained all the resilience I have today to continue on with my art dreams.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hello! my name is Mia and I am the creator of Mia’s Astro Art. I am a psychedelic intuitive mixed media artist that specializes in fluid painting. My style is very psychedelic trippy, colorful, whimsical, witchy, and sometimes astrological. I specialize in acrylic paint pouring and then I use different mediums to create different designs to go over the top. I call myself an intuitive artist because I like to do my paint pours for fun because I think they’re fun and relaxing and they were a way of relieving anxiety when I got back into my artwork, and from my paint pours the colors and the patterns tend to speak to me I see images in them as if you were to look up at the sky and we’re gonna look at the clouds and see different shapes in them that’s what I do with my paintings. I started a TikTok page four years ago where I show off my creations, post tutorials and show people my art journey. I started my small business Mia’s Astro Art on Etsy three years ago where I sell my artwork and products of my artwork. Throughout my journey I have learned to turn my artwork into products that I hand make myself such as stickers, lighter wraps, sun catchers, art prints, coloring pages, and I have documented my entire journey through learning all of these processes and I’m just slowly gaining knowledge one step at a time on how to make my art dreams a reality. Trying to grow my business by doing in person events such as this past year I have done three small table events in Minneapolis breweries and I just did my first big outdoor vending event at a block party and I hope to continue on with growing my business in person as well as hopefully still gaining traction online to be able to sell people my wonderful art and handmade products.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Perseverance, self-love, and just keep going. Those are the three qualities that have benefit me most in my journey. When I dropped out of art school I thought the art career path was not gonna be for me I suffered with major mental health problems and I didn’t create for four years after I dropped out. Once I started to create again I turn to self-love to keep me going. Learning to stop comparing my self to others and to others artwork, to love my own style, and what makes me happy, and to understand that my art won’t be everybody’s cup of tea really helped me along my journey. Just keep going and even when I was feeling burn out or a lack of confidence, just keep on creating has helped me push my art dreams to where there are today. My advice to everyone early in their journeys whether it be with art or small business is to just keep going do not give up. You will never truly understand how capable you are and yet you are your own best teacher. Really can put your mind to anything and get it done there’s lots of help online through tutorials that other artist make or videos on YouTube if you ever wanna teach yourself a new skill or a new style.Just keep going teach yourself new things learn to love yourself, and your work, understand it’s not going be for everybody. While starting my self-love journey in my art path I have felt more myself than I have I think ever in my life by excepting who I am and what I like and what I like to create. That’s truly where the best art is going to come from.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am always looking for other artists to collaborate with! The art community I have gained online has been a big help in continuing my art journey and starting my business. I love to connect with other artists online support each other’s posts, trade art products with one another to be able to show off online, possibly collaborate on a painting if we have similar styles. Mia’s Astro Art is on TikTok and Instagram and I am all for supporting other artists. Also I am a Minneapolis based artist, and I am looking forward to any table events, markets, pop-ups that anyone’s willing to collaborate on with me or let me know. Please connect with me on TikTok,IG, or my email is Miasastroart@gmail.com.
