We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Micaela Fellay a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Micaela , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I believe the imposter syndrome is something that accompanies everyone who is striving to create or achieve something meaningful. Behind every idea, every new project, there’s always that voice trying to hold you back. It’s the rational side of you, telling you that you’re not ready, not qualified, or that you don’t deserve the success you’re pursuing. It’s easy to let that voice stop you, but over time, I’ve come to realize that it’s part of the process. The self-doubt, the fear of failure—those feelings are almost inevitable. However, I’ve always believed that, in order for things to happen, you have to keep pushing forward. You can’t lower your arms, even when things feel overwhelming. The fear is part of the journey, part of this whole adventure we call entrepreneurship. It’s through taking action, despite the fear, that you learn, grow, and ultimately succeed.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

The most rewarding part of owning a store that specializes in memorable and meaningful gifts for children and babies is the ability to create my own designs, step by step. I love getting hands-on with the pieces, whether it’s by embroidering, painting, or adding my personal touch in other creative ways. This process allows me to transform each item into something truly special, making every gift unique and tailored to the recipient. My store is not just a business; it’s a space where every customer is treated as special, and every gift is crafted with care and attention to detail to make it the perfect and one-of-a-kind present.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three essential and indispensable skills in my entrepreneurial journey are the following:

First, everything related to handmade creations—whether it’s the embroidery, my watercolors, or any other craftwork I create. This hands-on aspect allows me to bring a personal touch to everything I make, ensuring that each piece is unique and meaningful.

Second, active listening and continuous learning. I believe that staying open to feedback and constantly improving my skills are crucial to personal and professional growth. This helps me stay connected to my clients’ needs and keep evolving my business.

Lastly, being a highly creative and visionary person. Dreaming big and thinking outside the box are what drive me to push the boundaries of what’s possible, both in my business and my designs.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal customer is someone who truly values handmade craftsmanship and seeks exclusive pieces with a unique touch. They want something different when it comes to dressing their little ones—styles that stand out and reflect a sense of individuality. They are drawn to a bohemian, timeless aesthetic, with a love for watercolor prints and the vintage charm of collars that our grandmothers used to embroider. My ideal customer appreciates those timeless, nostalgic pieces that carry a sense of story and craftsmanship.
