Meet Micaela Rene

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Micaela Rene a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Micaela, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
You know, it’s funny how sometimes we can’t help but feel like we’re not entirely qualified for the roles we’ve taken on. In those moments, I’ve found it really helpful to remind myself that I’m not alone in this feeling – even some of the most successful people have experienced imposter syndrome. Reflecting on my journey and the steps I’ve taken to get where I am today also gives me a sense of accomplishment. I’ve learned that making mistakes is just part of the learning curve, and they don’t define my worth or capabilities. Talking to mentors or peers in the industry has been a game-changer for me. Their guidance and shared experiences make me feel less isolated and more confident. Oh, and setting those small goals? They’ve been like building blocks for my confidence. Each time I achieve one, it’s a reminder that I’m on the right path. So, yeah, while imposter syndrome still sneaks in from time to time, I’ve come to realize that success is about progress, not perfection. And that perspective has made all the difference for me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
At Mick’Nics, our main gig is crafting memories that stick with you – the kind that make you smile when you reminisce. Our mission? It’s simple yet super meaningful: We want you to kick back, relax, and soak up every bit of your event while we handle the nitty-gritty details. Whether you’re celebrating a big birthday bash, marking an anniversary milestone, planning a heart-fluttering proposal, or just about anything in between – we’ve got your back.

You know, what really gets us all excited is our array of unique offerings. We’re talking cabanas that can make any event from a pool party to a micro wedding reception memorable, and champagne walls that are practically Instagram gold. And when it comes to planning, we’re like your detail-obsessed best friends – we won’t let anything slip through the cracks. From the tiniest decorative touches to those grand “wow” moments, Mick’Nics has got your event’s back.

And that’s not all – we’re spicing things up with seasonal-themed activities that will add that extra sparkle to your get-togethers. Get ready for some spooktacular Halloween events and heartwarming Christmas gatherings.

So, remember, at Mick’Nics, it’s not just an event – it’s an experience that’ll stay with you long after the confetti settles.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on Mick’Nics’ journey, there have been three areas that have made a real impact on us. First up, adaptability – it’s been a total game-changer. Event planning can be like a rollercoaster, and being able to pivot on the spot has been a must. Rolling with the punches and adjusting plans as needed? That’s been absolutely crucial!

Next, building strong relationships has been a total game-changer. From clients to vendors to our own awesome team, forging genuine connections has been the secret sauce behind our growth. Those bonds create a supportive network that just propels us forward, you know?

And let’s not forget creative problem-solving – our trusty sidekick. Events can toss surprises our way, and that’s where thinking outside the box comes in. Those unexpected challenges are basically opportunities to flex those innovation muscles and find solutions you’d never have thought of otherwise.

For anyone out there starting their own journey, I’d say these qualities are like a treasure map. To master adaptability, see change as your BFF. Challenges are like little chances to show off your flexibility skills. Building relationships is all about keeping it real – listen, connect, and support. And if you’re diving into the creative problem-solving pool, remember to toss aside the floaties. Dive in deep, brainstorm with others, and never shy away from trying out those quirky, new ideas.

In the end, the journey’s like a mixtape of learning, adapting, and getting better every day. So, embrace your uniqueness, keep your mind open, and remember that each twist and turn gets you closer to those awesome goals you’re chasing.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
Without a doubt, the most impactful thing my parents did for me was offer their unwavering support. They’ve been my biggest cheerleaders, standing by my side through every twist and turn as I built Mick’Nics from the ground up. Their involvement has been far more than just emotional encouragement – they’ve rolled up their sleeves and jumped in with both feet. From providing valuable feedback to sharing their perspectives, their insights have guided me forward. And when it comes to the practical side of things, they’ve been there with helping hands during events, especially during festivals where things can get pretty hectic. Their constant presence and genuine belief in what I’m doing have been a driving force behind my journey. Their support has been like a safety net, allowing me to take leaps I might not have dared to on my own. I’m incredibly grateful for their involvement, and I truly believe that Mick’Nics wouldn’t be where it is today without their full-hearted commitment every step of the way.
