Meet Michael and Amanda Quinones

We were lucky to catch up with Michael and Amanda Quinones recently and have shared our conversation below.

Michael and Amanda, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

We got engaged in 2020 and started looking for a Venue for our Wedding. We couldn’t find anything we loved or envisioned anywhere in Los Angeles. We built an office in our basement with a vision board and planned for two years during the pandemic. Everything we wanted at our Wedding Venue was on this board. White and Gold esthetic, White Glitter Floors, Gold Glitter Floors, a Swarovski Glass Slipper, Huge Crystal Chandeliers, European, Palace of Versailles inspired. Still, after everything opened up, we found a place in Los Angeles. With nobody believing in us, this did not happen until our 7th offer. Everything on the vision board has come to life at The Glass Slipper Palace. It’s like a dream come true…

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Throughout the pandemic, unable to visit venues, we undertook the monumental task of planning and constructing our own venue from scratch. The journey has filled us not only with pride but also with gratitude for the experiences and opportunities it has provided. The grueling schedule, rising at 7 am and often not resting until 3 am for five months straight, took its toll, but the results were immensely rewarding. Despite setbacks with contractors who couldn’t initially see our vision, we persevered until we found someone who could bring it to life.

Seeing every bride, groom, or event attendee enter The Glass Slipper Palace with wide smiles is profoundly heartwarming. One bride even shared that our Palace of Versailles-inspired venue evoked a childhood memory of Europe, bringing tears of joy to her eyes. Witnessing such emotional reactions reaffirms our mission. While we felt the same sense of fulfillment when we finally opened our doors, our journey continues. Our commitment is to keep turning dreams into reality for everyone who walks through our doors.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Reflecting on our event venue journey, three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful include attention to detail, customer service excellence, business acumen and understanding of how things tick.

For those early in their event venue journey, my advice is to educate yourself, embrace challenges, build relationships, seek mentorships, stay passionate but most of all…. Never give up! You got this!

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When we feel overwhelmed, we find it helpful to take a step back and reassess the situation. Here are some strategies that have worked for us…
Prioritize and Plan
Take Breaks
Delegate
Seek Support
Practice Self-Care
Learn To Say No
Reflect and Learn

But most of all, take one thing at a time. Managing overwhelm involves a combination of practical strategies, self-awareness, and seeking support when needed. By implementing these strategies proactively, we can navigate overwhelming situations more effectively and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
