We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Michael David Hammond. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Michael David below.
Michael David , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I have always been a husky person growing up and was always talked about cause I was the “fat kid”. I was watching TV and I seen John Candy and Chris Farley two guys who looked like me and everyone loved. So I seen their spark of confidence and just truly embraced every bit of my fluffiness afterwards. I love to encourage others to truly love the skin you’re in!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Well I was raised on the Westside of Chicago in the Austin neighborhood. My mom raised four of us on her own and although life wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows she made a way. Even through the years that we endured being homeless she never stopped pushing forward. I remember in 2020 I was near death due to covid 19 my mom called me every second I was in the hospital. Life’s challenges taught me to truly always remain humble, enjoy life, and to never take anything or anyone for granted. I love to encourage, motivate, and help others whether it be on the phone,in person,or through my “MONDAY SETS THE TONE” posts on my social media platforms. Acting tips…..just a listening ear for them to vent don’t matter I try to be there for anyone in need. I also love to give back to the community mentoring the youth or volunteering with Taste For The Homeless led by Dr. Michael Airhart and his wife Pamela Airhart. As an actor, one of the things I love is bringing the people truly phenomenal entertainment. The special part is seeing the smiles of all the supporters….. let’s me know I DID MY JOB RIGHT!!!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I am feeling overwhelmed I just take a step back to center myself by meditating and using breathing techniques while talking to the big man upstairs (God) to just truly help guide me. I would say find what truly centers you cause everyone needs something different.
