Meet Michael Easton

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michael Easton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Michael , thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.

Ahhh this is an interesting one, how have I overcome creative blocks. Over the years of being a tattoo artist and visual artist I would struggle when these blocks came about. Recently I’ve learned in order to get over it you have to tackle it with this mentality of “it has to get done anyway” and following up with that being able to tap into your inner child energy. Finding those things that stimulated you as a kid helps with the creation process. See how a kid can have one toy and can set up an imaginary world? Now if we’re able to harness that energy, that feeling, usually the sense of being blocked goes out the window. Even taking a break and reassess the project at hand.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hey my name is Mike/ Michael and I am an artist all around. Professionally I am a self taught tattoo artist who has made some what of a name for myself. I have been tattooing for the last 13 years of my life. This has been so life changing because my art went from a flat 2-D plane to a 3-D realm. My art has now become part of a living vessel. My favorite part of my job is being able to collaborate with the people of the world, and by that I mean were able to forge your concept/idea into reality and you’re able to wear it on your skin forever. I love that I am able to boost people’s confidence with a little bit of art. It is a super life changer and helps people shine brighter. I have my own aftercare in the works for tattoo healing, and soon traveling internationally bonding with artist from all over the world. I want to bridge together those artist who don’t have the exposure needed for their art. My plan is to have the world see them!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

3 qualities

– the ability to not give up

-being a sponge, remember you’re always a student even when you master something

-Practice makes perfect

If you want to improve or develop this it takes a strong mind of focus! Don’t ever lose sight of your goals, don’t allow people to tear down a dream you have. Only you have that dream in mind, live it out, it is not for anyone else other than you. There are a lot of obstacles, you just have to learn how to rise above them. Think of yourself as the ocean, there’s a few rocks in the way, water flows around, through, underneath or above! You have to do the same, you become the ocean that overcomes these rocks/obstacles. Nothing easy is worth it

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

Instilled this belief to live out your dreams, never give up (can take a break but get back to it) and also just being supportive. Support comes in many forms, could be words of encouragement, investing in your idea, going to these places with me, a phone call, a social media repost etc are all forms of support. Being that persons light and that’s what my parents did, all free and full of love.
