Meet Michael Hollingsworth

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michael Hollingsworth. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Michael, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
My creativity remains alive and well due to the inspirations and influences that surround me. I make it a mission to challenge myself, and to always continue to grow in my profession. I also surround myself with like minded individuals who have the same passion for creativity and growth like I do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I would love to highlight my recent digital collectibles project I released at the end of 2023. The project is titled “Cupscriptions” and they are a collection of 5,000 randomly generated cup characters with hand drawn characteristics like different eyes and cup colors. The collection was met with high praise, causing the collectibles to sell out within the first 24 hours of launch. I credit the success not only to me, but to our in-house developer Bryan also. We have developed a partnership with the artist behind the “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” show on Adult Swim, and plan to release collaborative merchandise in the near future.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
One of my main qualities is resilience. Nowadays I feel like you have to have thick skin and a set vision to be successful. It’s so many distractions in the world that can throw you off of your game, so I would say the second impactful quality in my journey has been self-belief. I am 100% certain I wouldn’t be as successful as I am today if I didn’t have an insane amount of self-belief. You have to believe in yourself before you can expect others to believe in you. The third quality has been my thirst for knowledge and constant improvement. I understand that there’s always something new to learn, and I pride myself in continuing to grow as a businessman, artist, and entrepreneur.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My parents have been the main source of support my entire life. I grew up in a rough area, so they made it a priority to keep me involved in sports and other extracurricular activities as a kid. They always encouraged me to try my best at everything I do, and still give me that encouragement to this day. I believe that I get most of my creativity from my mother, who has her own clothing and accessories business like me. She inspired me to be an artist at a very early age and I thank her for instilling that confidence in me.
