Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michael Julian. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Michael, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
“My purpose found me the day I realized people were dying in active shooter situations simply because no one ever taught them what to do. I couldn’t accept that. With my background in security, investigations and executive protection, I knew there were practical things people could learn to survive, and I felt personally responsible to teach them. That moment of clarity became the foundation for the A.L.I.V.E. Program. It wasn’t about fear. It was about giving people a fighting chance.”

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
“I teach people how to survive the most terrifying situations imaginable: active shooter situations. What’s special about A.L.I.V.E. is that it doesn’t just focus on tactics. It changes the way people think and react under pressure. We focus on mindset, awareness and decisive action. It’s not fear based. It’s empowering. What’s exciting right now is the growth. We’ve launched our Certified Instructor Course so others can carry the mission into their own communities, schools and workplaces. It’s no longer just a program. It’s becoming a movement.”
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
“Three skills that have guided my journey in business and in life are situational awareness, emotional discipline and relentless purpose. My biggest piece of advice for those just embarking on their journey is to train their minds to stay calm in chaos. That’s a superpower. When you’re clear on your purpose, you’ll find the grit to push through the setbacks and the clarity to know what really matters.”

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
“Learning to delegate and trust others with the mission was key to taking A.L.I.V.E. to the next level of success. I’ve been very hands-on my whole life, but I realized that if A.L.I.V.E. was going to grow into something bigger than me, I had to build a team and empower them. That shift has been huge. Now, I’m watching this program expand into schools, corporations and churches around the world, and knowing I’m no longer the only one carrying the torch has been the most rewarding kind of growth.”
