We were lucky to catch up with Michael Pushkarskiy recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience arises from a combination of experience, support systems, and my unique way of thinking. Many people draw strength from their past challenges, learning from their failures, but my self-work involves focusing on positive future scenarios rather than on past memories.
It also comes from a sense of purpose or goals that motivate me to keep going, even when things get tough.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a director and director of photography.
I has been working in the entertainment industry for over 15 years. I started out as a photographer and has risen to the ranks of a director. I have launched numerous projects from fashion shows, music videos, commercials and films. I taught at many filmmaker schools throughout the world. I’m also an assistant to the legendary photographer Antoine Verglas. My latest documentary film “Guardians of Style” has been released worldwide and is available to watch on all streaming platforms and public libraries across the USA.
We are currently developing a series of projects, both documentaries and TV shows.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I think my determination, discipline, and ability to communicate effectively with people. The only advice I could give is to never give up and to pursue your goals while learning along the way.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

Since I come from a family of champions, I think the most impactful thing for me was how my father achieved his victories in sports; I followed his example. This has led to positive results in my future.
