Meet Michael ransome

We recently connected with Michael Ransome and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Michael, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
When I was young I use to watch a lot of family tv shows like The Wonder Years, Full House, Who’s The Boss, Family Matters, Fresh Prince Of Belair and The Cosby Show. All the shows i mentioned use to sit at the as a family and eat dinner at times. I love seeing that and i wanted that when i had my family. Food brought the families together and they enjoyed the time they had sitting at the table enjoying each other time and good food. Without the food the families would have not came together to laugh and joke and have a good time. I love family and i love bringing people together. I always loved to cook. use to watch my grandmother cook when I was young and most of the time she would let me cook with her and i just remember the joy that it gave me to cook with her thats when i realized i wanted to cook and be a chef so i can bring joy into people lives. Thats how I found my purpose.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Well my name is Chef Mike owner of Cravin Flavas Catering. I love being and the kitchen and trying new recipes. Whats so special about cooking is i get to do it with my kids. They love being in the kitchen and helping me with any task. When i have catering events i put my kids to work( i have to pay them lol) but i love it all. Recently we was on fox5 for the lion lunch hour. It was great for my brand and i gain alot of new clients. We have a food trailer that will be hitting the road pretty soon, so we are going to do a red carpet launch party.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back over the years failure and mistakes was necessary and I’m glad it happen because it help me grow to have better skills. I have alot of great qualities. I’m a peoples person. Strive to be the best chef. Consistent and on time. Its always room for improvement everyday.

Here is some good advice. Don’t be afraid to take a leap of faith. Your going to have some days when you want to give up. Just remember ROME was not built in a day.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
My biggest challenge is asking for help. I have to much pride to ask for help. This past Saturday I had a show for Joe Clair he’s a well known comic in DC. I suppose to be there at 5 but my uhaul got stuck in the mud and i didn’t get there until 7pm. I only made $300 and was in the hole. I couldn’t focus or think straight, i wanted to throw in the towel and give up but my team wouldn’t let me. They told me that God has something amazing coming your way. We have your back.
