Michele, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
As a woman leading a luxury home design business in a male-dominated industry, I’ve often found myself as “the only one in the room.” But rather than viewing it as a disadvantage, I’ve embraced it as an opportunity to stand out. My unique perspective, shaped by my self-taught background and passion for historic renovations, allows me to offer innovative solutions and “think outside the box.”
In a field where women can be easily dismissed, I’ve learned to leverage my tenacity and drive to overcome any doubts. I’ve made it a priority to continuously prove my expertise and knowledge through exceptional results and a high level of service. My team and I work tirelessly to exceed expectations, ensuring that every project reflects our commitment to excellence and attention to detail.
Additionally, I’ve discovered the power of collaboration and building strong relationships within the industry. By fostering genuine connections with contractors, vendors, and clients, I’ve established a reputation for trustworthiness and professionalism. These relationships have not only opened doors but also provided valuable support and mentorship.
The ability to transform spaces, create beautiful homes, and leave a lasting impact on my clients’ lives brings me immense joy and fulfillment. While the road may not always be easy, the rewards are immeasurable.

I’m incredibly proud of the recognition we’ve received over the years, including recently being named Best Home/Interior Designer in the Tampa Bay Times 2024 People’s Choice Best of the Best Contest! It’s a testament to our team’s dedication and the trust our clients place in us to deliver exceptional craftsmanship.
Looking ahead, we’re excited about expanding our footprint within Florida and beyond, taking on more ambitious projects around the Country. Our goal is to continue pushing the boundaries of home design, creating spaces that not only stand out but also enrich the lives of those who live there.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that have been crucial to my journey with MISARI Design Collective are creativity, resilience, and daring to be bold.
#1. Creativity: In our industry, innovation and creativity are essential. We dare to step away from cookie-cutter designs and embrace vibrant colors, rich textures, and audacious concepts that truly reflect our clients’ personalities. Developing creativity involves continuously seeking inspiration, exploring new ideas, and fearlessly experimenting with design elements that push boundaries.
#2. Resilience: Building a successful business requires resilience in the face of challenges and setbacks. There have been times when persistence and determination were key to overcoming obstacles and pushing forward. It’s about staying focused on the long-term vision while navigating the day-to-day complexities of running a business.
