We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Michele Vrabel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Michele below.
Hi Michele, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
The Lord called me to write a book, Butterfly Stitches which is launching in November, about my story. It contains abuse and healing. He taught me that the healing begins at the point of the wound. I have learned how to further that process in every area: emotional, spiritual, mental and physical. I listen to what He has to say on the subject and also take the critical thinking skills he gave me to draw from everything I have been through – both wounds and healing – to work through whatever I may be going through currently. I actively take care of myself in all four areas and do things that add value and subtract toxic substances or relationships.
Physically having my body in the best shape since my 20s at 62 has made my effectiveness at being aware of my mental and emotional state in order to act or react has been invaluable. All of theses areas are interwoven and you have to work on them all to be the most effective. I am finishing and launching a book which is a two part memoir with the second part coming out in spring of 2025, hosting my second season of a podcast and preparing to do speaking engagements and retreats, all at the age of 62.
I am very particular and specific about what I consume: with my eyes, ears and mouth. This is probably the highest priority to be mentally clear, physically healthy and not emotionally challenged by toxins. I make sure to get amazing sleep and rest when necessary. My diet is very clean and whole foods. I have a thriving relationship with my King Jesus and all of this together keeps me emotionally on keel as well.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As a business professional I am a Bookkeeper+. I am a small business consultant that has bookkeeping as a large component of what I do, however I help with tax strategy, finding funding, entity creation and industry specific licensing.
I have been called to write a book, Butterfly Stitches, which is launching the second week of November. It is a two part memoir about my story which includes abuse and healing. In the process of coaching for my book, I was encouraged to start a podcast and am now in my second season of Old School with Michele Vrabel. It parallels my writing in that it discusses acquiring and maintaining healing in all four areas: emotional, spiritual, mental and physical.
The second part will launch in spring of 2025 and will contain a workbook to more effectively lead and encourage others in healing. The plan is to have boutique retreats that can give an even firmer foundation.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
As a Christian, I believe in creation. I believe we were created with a fully functioning brain. With each encounter with abuse that I went through, my brain began developing critical thinking skills to truly see the reality of what was happening to me and not stay defined or sitting in the abuse. This relationship with my Creator gave me the ability throughout my life to see reality in each situation. It didn’t mean that I always responded well with this information, but I was aware of my choices or the things that were the choices of others and not my fault.
For me, pressing into my faith and developing the ability to ask and listen for my purpose and calling has been the area with the most development over the course of my life. I would imagine God has invented the eye roll regarding me and is grateful I am getting there, lol.
I am a science geek and will read the white papers and drill down on everything. I do this for anything I put in or on my body, as well as when acquiring information to make decisions. I don’t take the internet at face value. I look behind the curtain.
My advice would be to use your critical thinking skills, your intuition(for me the Holy Spirit) and do your own research to make decisions. Don’t let others tell you how to think. My Creator knows the beginning from the end and I figure that is the best place to go for advice.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The Bible. Both in business and as an author it is replete with wisdom. Especially in this current world climate, nuggets like these are so valuable:
Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.(Prov 13:20)
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. (Psalm 1:1-3)
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.(Proverbs 31:26-27)
The gifts and abilities I have received from my Creator have made anything and everything possible. I have used the Bible to develop discernment which helps when choosing clients and any other relationships. It has given me the wisdom to pray and listen before reacting to situations both professionally and personally and I know has kept me from saying and doing things that would not reflect well on me or my business.
