Hi Michell , so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
Persisting despite haters and naysayers can be challenging, but it’s crucial for success. In my career, I remain resilient by focusing on my passion for this industry, ignoring negativity, and seeking support from allies, and continually learning and improving my skills to prove my critics wrong. It’s about staying true to your goals and not letting others’ opinions deter you from your path. When I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey, at the age of 27, I was determined to build my own business empire. As you began to pave your path to success, you encounter jealousy and haters who doubted my abilities at every turn.
In the early days, I started a small hair salon with my Mom Wendy Haines, my best friend and biggest fan. Our unique sense of style and commitment to customer satisfaction set own business apart, family owned and operated and spreading love to others and our community. Despite the way others were, we remained focused.
I decided to counter the negativity by showcasing my dedication to quality and customer service. We actively engaged with our community and with our customers, addressing their needs and feedback. Positive reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations began to pour in, slowly overshadowing the naysayers. This salon opened in 2004 opening a second location in 2006 which is still open today, I am now the sole owner of the salon, as my mom and I sold the other location in 2017 and I bought her out, as she has retired.
Fast forward to 2020 I wanted more and decided to open Michelle Lee Matchmaking making, with my daughter Bailey Hawkins Ruiz. This came with more critics, but we always continue to smile and shine, as in life you will always unfortunately have those kind of people in this world.
Instead of letting this discourage us. We used it as an opportunity to further engage with our community doing local events, promoting the safety of dating, as we do background checks and credit checks.
However, our unwavering determination, and commitment to excellence, and ability to turn negativity into motivation propelled us forward.
Over time, our businesses continues to grow. The jealousy and hatred from my early days only served to fuel my determination to prove them wrong. We persisted, emerging stronger and more accomplished, leaving a trail of inspiration for others to follow in our footsteps, and their success is a testament to our skills of running a resilient business. We love LOVE and will continue to spread love all over SWFL.

Based on the consultation, a personalized dating profile is created for each client. This profile is used to identify potential matches within the extensive database. he matchmakers use their expertise to handpick compatible matches. We consider factors such as interests, values, and lifestyles to ensure that each date has the potential for a genuine connection.
After each date, the we follow up with both clients to gather feedback and insights. This feedback is used to refine future matches and improve the overall matchmaking process.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Stay positive, always keep good energy, if it feels bad it is. If it feels good it is!!! Stay in that place of feeling good, and sometimes when you’re having a bad day focus on something that you are thankful for instead, and that will change the outcome.
