Meet Michelle Anthony, Ms, Cdfs®, Aif®

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Michelle Anthony, Ms, Cdfs®, Aif®. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Michelle below.

Michelle , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

From a young age, I developed a deep passion for helping others. My parents frequently took my brother and me to volunteer at local nonprofits, instilling in us a strong sense of community and service. During college, I sought out internships at various companies to discover my true calling. It wasn’t until my final internship at Morgan Stanley, working alongside my father, who was a Financial Advisor, that everything clicked. This experience was a defining moment for me, as I realized I could make a real difference by helping people navigate their biggest financial concerns—like funding their children’s education and planning for retirement. After earning my Master’s in Finance, I became a Financial Advisor, and I’ve never looked back. For over twenty years, I’ve had the privilege of making a meaningful impact in people’s financial lives, guiding them through life-changing moments. I now own my own financial services firm, Modern Wealth Management, based in Tucson, Arizona. Every day, I feel incredibly fortunate to do work that I am deeply passionate about.

As a parent, I’m proud to continue the tradition my parents instilled in me by volunteering in the community with my own family. My hope is that this will help my son discover his own sense of purpose, just as it did for me.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®), Certified Divorce Financial Specialist (CDFS®), and Financial Advisor with over 26 years of experience in the industry, including work with top Fortune 500 firms. Four years ago, I founded and became the owner of Modern Wealth Management (MWM), a financial services firm, after recognizing a gap in the market for educational-based financial services. At MWM, we strive to empower our clients with the financial knowledge they need to make informed decisions along their journey. I believe clients deserve a financial partner who takes the time to understand their unique needs and goals while helping them achieve the future they envision.

I am passionate about providing personalized guidance and support through comprehensive, holistic financial planning. I also make it a priority to educate my clients so they feel confident in their decisions.

In addition to finance, I’m deeply committed to financial literacy. For the past decade, I’ve taught adult education classes designed to empower people to take control of their financial futures.

Beyond my work in finance, I am dedicated to philanthropy across Tucson, Arizona. I was honored as a National Philanthropy Honoree in 2014 and named a 40 Under 40 Honoree in 2015. I am an active member of several nonprofit organizations, including cooking meals at Ronald McDonald House, working with the Junior League of Tucson, and supporting the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona, where I served as Board President. I’ve also served on the Board of Directors for Casa de los Niños and the Banner Advisory Board. Additionally, I volunteer at my son’s school and currently serve as President of their school volunteer board. I’m also a proud member of the Women’s President Organization.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Resilience: Breaking into my industry as a woman was far from easy. I was told time and again that I wouldn’t succeed without a male business partner or that balancing family and business would be too difficult. But instead of letting those doubts discourage me, I adopted the mindset of, “Watch me.” Watch me do this on my own—and I did. Today, I own my own financial services firm, where I have the privilege of mentoring other women who aspire to enter this industry and defy the same expectations.

Adaptability: In business, change is constant, whether it’s market shifts or evolving rules and regulations. I’ve learned to embrace this unpredictability, continually adapting my business to stay aligned with the ever-changing world around me.

Continuous Learning: I have a passion for learning, and it has been the key to overcoming countless obstacles in both business and life. My advice? Never stop learning—it’s your most powerful tool for growth and success.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

I specialize in navigating major life events, from planning for retirement to managing sudden changes like inheritance, divorce, or career transitions. I find it incredibly rewarding to be the trusted advisor that clients turn to during these significant milestones, offering guidance and helping them make confident decisions during times that can often feel uncertain. For me, being that steady source of support and expertise during pivotal moments isn’t just a responsibility—it’s a privilege that adds deep meaning to my work.
