Meet Michelle Arbeau

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Michelle Arbeau a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Michelle, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t a die-hard optimist. Most of us as children have this innately within but as we grow older, it tends to diminish in varying degrees. I was definitely an exception to the norm because I never really lost any of my optimism. I even attribute my lifelong unwavering optimistic outlook to the vast amount of success I was able to achieve over the course of my over 20-year career (and counting).

Despite having a stress-filled and impoverished childhood with my single mother in Canada, I can vividly remember many times catching myself (even as young as 5) saying under my breath, “I’m gonna be something great.” I have no idea where these beautiful moments of optimism and confidence came from but those were pivotal in preventing me from repeating the cycle of an impoverished life. Many of the children I grew up around, did end up repeating the cycle of their parents. Having multiple children, collecting a welfare check and not having anything going on in the way of goals or dreams. It was very sad to learn about that after I had come back to visit later. Those “generational patterns” are hard to break but something deep inside me knew, without a doubt, that life was not MY life. Never.

And so it was.

The universe was conspiring to help me because everything fell into place with perfect timing. At 19 years old, I told my mother I had to go. Knowing that when I left, she’d no longer receive income, I created a resume for her with a couple white lies (she has a grade 8 education) and landed her an interview as a housekeeper at a retirement residence. They loved her in the interview and she was hired (mind you, this is the first job she’d had in her life but she kept that job until retirement recently).

I was free to go and that I did. After a very short stint in the corporate, HR, banking world (2 years), I jumped ship and never looked back. I knew I was more than just someone who was destined to “work for the man” the rest of my life.

My optimistic outlook has remained virtually unchanged since childhood. Of course, as an adult, there is some degree of rationality in there now, but honestly, I still do believe anything is possible and we can be and do anything we want. One hundred percent.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Being a very practical person who tends to require a lot of “fact with my faith,” so to speak, it really caught me by surprise when I started dreaming in numbers every night in my early twenties. I wasn’t exposed to any kind of religion or spirituality growing up either, so I didn’t have any kind of frame of reference whatsoever.

During my brief stint in the corporate banking world, I experienced a solid three months of having my nightly dreams filled with numbers, lots of numbers. Numbers appeared on doors, street signs, license plates, people – you name it. Numbers and number sequences were the theme of all my dreams and I was baffled as to why. I wrote these number patterns down every morning on a notepad beside my bed. Nearing the end of the three months, I went on the hunt for answers. That’s when I stumbled upon a numerology book which helped me decode all those numbers.

Each and every one of those numerical sequences, when translated through numerology, spoke messages to me and revealed answers to not only my current life challenges and situations, but that of the future as well. It was a shocking “ah-ha” moment, indeed.

I was so blown away and impressed by what I had discovered about the Science of Numbers, that I began analyzing everything and everyone I could. It wasn’t long before I had turned my discovery into a booming business. After doing numbers for the people in my life, word of mouth spread fast and soon I was in high demand as a newly anointed Numerologist.

Living in a small East Coast town in Canada, it didn’t take very long to realize that if I wanted my business to thrive and continue to spread the word about the magic of numbers, I’d have to spread my wings and move out of there. With a population of around 36,000 at the time and a conservative crowd of 9-5 government workers who went to church every Sunday, no one wanted to admit that they had a session with a taboo person like me so I was ‘in the closet” as a practicing Numerologist (not good for business).

So, I took a leap of pure faith. I put my house up for sale, sold most of my belongings and set off on a journey across Canada in search of a new home. I ended up far West, in the city of Calgary, Alberta where a friend of mine was living. I was there just two weeks and miracles began to happen. That’s when I really knew I was on track and doing what I was supposed to be doing.

When I first made the pit stop in Calgary, no one but my family knew yet out of the blue, a major Canadian news network (CTV Morning Live) called my cell phone. On the other end of the line was a female producer for the show who was asking me to be a guest to discuss the topic of Friday the 13th. Somehow she knew I was a numerologist and that I was in Calgary. Something inside me said not to ask any questions as to how she got all this information and just to accept the invitation – so that’s exactly what I did.

After my first major media appearance, the rest is history. It was like a snowball effect. I continued to accumulate more media interviews, not only repeatedly with CTV but with other major networks. I acquired a talent manager and started traveling back and forth to Los Angeles for more media interviews (like the History Channel) and even started getting celebrity clients. I also wrote two books back-to-back and gained a literary agent. Both books came out a month apart, just after I made a final leap to move to Los Angeles in June 2013.

That’s when my career really began to soar. On the advice of my talent manager, who convinced me that my career was in Los Angeles and so that’s where I needed to be, I moved to West Hollywood and applied for the coveted 0-1 work visa for Extraordinary Individuals. I was approved six months after I arrived. This achievement put the gold seal on my newly minted career. In order to be approved for the 0-1, I had to prove I was top in my field of endeavor as a numerologist. I literally had to submit a ream’s worth of paper evidence of my career to Homeland Security. Obtaining this coveted award was and still is by far, my proudest career moment. I earned my stripes to be here in the United States all on my own, without requiring a sponsor. Just me, myself, and I.

This is when I became the #1 Numerologist in the world and my career continued to bloom over the course of the next several years. Since then, I now have the Green Card and am a permanent resident and aside from my numerology practice, I’m also CEO of Eleven Eleven Productions (film/TV) and Truth Tribe Nation (online podcasting, TV, e-learning, publishing platform).

I’m a syndicated columnist (numerology horoscope), have countless articles published (aside from my books), a featured expert on sites like WikiHow.com and MomJunction.com. I work with brands and celebrity clients such as Chanel/Karl Lagerfeld, J.J. Abrams, Michael Kors, Konica Minolta, Maybelline Heiress, NBC Director, Celebrity Makeup Artist, Twilight Vampires, and my list continues to grow.

Now, what exactly does a Numerologist do? Most people know about Astrology and what their sign is, etc., but most don’t really know what the Science of Numbers is all about. When I do private sessions for my clients, I use their birth name and date of birth to essentially reveal to them who they truly are, what they’re here to do, and how to do it. That’s the easiest way I can describe it. Numbers are incredible. As Pythagoras (who is actually considered the father of numerology) said, “Everything lies veiled in numbers.” This statement couldn’t be more true and I’ve proved it for the past 27 years with an unsurpassed accuracy rate.

Anything and everything can be analyzed through the numbers. Names of any kind (personal names, business names), addresses, phone numbers, special dates – all will reveal specific messages through the power of numbers. It’s an unbelievably accurate science. After all these years, I’m still in awe of how spot on it always is and so are my clients.

By far, the most fascinating element of working with the numbers is that by knowing someone’s numerical sequence, which I like to refer to as their “spiritual DNA,” it allows you to be able to understand what makes them tick from the inside out. It’s a blueprint that can show you how to interact with them (speak their language) and know why they do the things they do. For example, think of the classic “nagging wife” and “tuned-out husband.” As the wife is supposedly nagging, the husband isn’t really listening (tuning her out) and saying, “yes, dear.” This is purely a situation of misunderstanding each other.

The wife is an over-thinker/over-analyzer and the husband is more of a doer, preferring to think less, do more. Just because they’re so different doesn’t mean they’re not compatible. With numerology’s help, anyone is compatible. It’s about understanding each other. When the husband discovers (through numerology) that his wife isn’t nagging but simply gets stuck in a loop of mind chatter, he understands for the first time that it’s not about him at all. It’s the way she is and that he could actually help her. Similarly, when the wife comes to find that the husband isn’t much of a thinker and prefers to take action first, she realizes he’s not ignoring her at all. He just doesn’t understand where she’s coming from with all her abundance of thoughts, ideas, and what-if scenarios.

Long story short, numerology can transform lives in an instant. It allows you to strip away misunderstanding and misinterpretation which is at the core of most relationship challenges.

I love what I do every day. I get to transform lives in the best possible ways. What more could I ask for? I know, without a doubt, I’m living my passion and purpose. It’s a phenomenal feeling.

As for growth and expansion moving forward? Onward and upward! I’ve been building and expanding my empire for over 20 years and I plan to continue to share my love and passion of numbers with the world for the rest of my life.

Aside from the numbers, my other passion has always been helping others find and live their truth (which is essentially what I do when I give numerology readings). I launched a side business called Truth Tribe Nation (TruthTribeNation.com) which is a podcasting, online TV, e-learning and publishing platform. People love the brand and it’s catching on like wildfire. I’m truly blessed and eternally grateful.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Not everyone has the courage to jump ship from a high-paid corporate banking job and free-fall into entrepreneurship but I truly believe my undying optimism I kept since childhood allowed me to have faith and believe that, in the words of my good friend, Emmy Award-Winning Choreographer Doug Jack, “Jump and the net will appear.”

Speaking of entrepreneurship, not everyone is cut out for that. It sends some people into a panic if I tell them about how income fluctuates drastically at times, and no, there aren’t any guaranteed paychecks every two weeks. It takes a certain kind of person to be able to ride the waves of the entrepreneurial lifestyle. I’m not knocking those who like to have the security of a career. There’s a place for everyone in the scheme of things. However, for me, I feel as though the freedom of being able to create my own way balances out any risks there may be. I don’t really think about failure or that possibility so I think I don’t manifest any of that. I have this inner knowing that everything will be okay and it always is.

As a pure 30/3 Life Path in numerology, that equates to the imaginative, inspirational social butterfly. It can also mean you get “foot-in-mouth disease” often but it allows me to be able to talk to anyone about anything. This has made the pivotal difference in being successful or not (in my business). My motto has always been, “If you don’t ask, you’ll never know” meaning if you don’t ask, you’ll regret things or miss out on opportunities all the time. I’ve always said I never want to end my life with regrets – so far so good!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents ever did for me isn’t exactly what you’d expect someone to say. My mother was a single parent on welfare the entire time I was growing up. She only had a grade 8 education and wasn’t exactly the most loving or attentive parent. It was embarrassing when I started school so I would lie and tell other kids my mom was a doctor and my dad a lawyer.

My dad was only 19 when I was born and although he went on later to have other children, he was an absentee father in my life. He was also a drug addict and alcohol for many years (he’s been sober for decades now). For a long time, I wondered what was wrong with me, why didn’t my dad want me? That was a tough trauma wound to get past because it can really wreak havoc on your self-esteem. The classic “I’m not good enough” belief pattern was fully entrenched for a long time.

What impact did my parents have on me? Well, at the time it was all happening it was devastating but now, I’m grateful for it all because it taught me how to learn to love myself. Truly love myself. I realized a big lesson many of us need to understand and that’s the fact that our parents are separate human beings with their own past, traumas, beliefs and negative patterns. What they do to themselves or to someone else has NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU. To learn that lesson set me free to be my own person. Free of the pain and trauma that I took on that wasn’t really my own. It was simply playing out in my life through them.
