Meet Michelle Arencibia

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Michelle Arencibia a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, thank you so much for joining us today. There are so many topics we could discuss, but perhaps one of the most relevant is empathy because it’s at the core of great leadership and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your empathy?

My empathy was shaped by the hardships, abuse, and trauma I experienced as a child and adult. Going through those struggles made me deeply aware of pain, isolation, and the need to be truly seen. I want others to know they are not alone that their experiences matter and that healing is possible. My faith and trust in the universe, in God’s plan for me, have been guiding forces in my journey. They’ve helped me transform my pain into understanding, compassion and purpose allowing me to hold space for others with an open heart.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As an esthetician, I discovered the profound connection between touch, healing, and the intricate relationship between the skin and the brain. While working with clients, I witnessed how intentional holistic touch could not only improve the skin’s health but also evoke deep emotional and neurological responses. My journey into touch therapy became even more personal when I began receiving Calatonia therapy to heal past trauma. Experiencing its transformative effects firsthand led me to become a Calatonia therapist myself. Now, I am honored to be part of a growing community of women offering Calatonia therapy in the United States, and I look forward to collaborating with wellness and mental health professionals to expand its reach. The ability to heal through touch and neuroscience is still a relatively new frontier, and I am excited about the future of this discovery and its potential to heal and change lives.
I am currently working on projects in the expansion of my esthetics and Calatonia therapies. I look forward to sharing more details in the coming months. Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been resilience, deep listening, and an openness to continuous learning.

Resilience allowed me to move through my own hardships and trauma, transforming pain into purpose. For those early in their journey, I encourage embracing challenges as opportunities for growth and trusting that healing is a process that unfolds over time.

Deep listening has been essential in my work. Whether as an esthetician, a Calatonia therapist, or in everyday interactions. True healing begins when people feel seen and heard. Developing this skill requires presence, patience, and the ability to hold space without judgment.

Openness to continuous learning has kept me engaged and evolving, especially in the fields of touch therapy and neuroscience. I encourage others to stay curious, seek knowledge from different disciplines, and remain open to new discoveries. Healing is not a fixed destination but a lifelong journey of exploration and connection.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes, I am absolutely looking to collaborate with others who are passionate about healing and wellness. I would love to connect with wellness practitioners, mental health professionals, holistic healers, bodyworkers, and neuroscientists who are interested in integrating touch therapy, Calatonia, and neuroplasticity based healing into their work. I believe in the power of collaboration to expand access to healing and deepen our understanding of the mind, body, spirit connection.

If you are a professional looking to incorporate touch therapy into your practice or if you work with clients who could benefit from this approach, I would love to explore ways we can work together.
