Meet Michelle Bond

We recently connected with Michelle Bond and have shared our conversation below.

Michelle, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

My optimism comes from a choice I’ve made to live in a constant state of gratitude. I try to stay present and grounded by appreciating the path I’m on, and by noticing the everyday moments and opportunities life offers. This mindset helps me face challenges calmly, without overthinking or getting ahead of myself.
I’m especially grateful for my family, my friends, and the loyal customers who’ve chosen to walk this journey with me. Their support means the world and it’s at the heart of everything we do at Simplicity Body and Mind.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

After pregnancy, everything changed my time, my priorities, and my skin. What once worked for my face no longer did, and suddenly my multi-step skincare routine felt impossible. Too many products, too many promises, and yet, my skin felt dry, dull, and rough.

So, I stripped it all back, I asked myself What does skin really need? I thought about how skin already knows how to care for itself and stay balanced. It’s external factors like hormonal changes, stress, pollution, and weather that throw it off. I began focusing on protecting and strengthening my skin barrier with natural ingredients. I started with a simple oil packed with antioxidants and nutrients my skin was craving, and the results spoke for themselves.

Simplicity Body and Mind was born from this experience, to help customers give their skin what it truly needs so it can do what it’s meant to do naturally, glow and thrive. Every product is rooted in this philosophy: minimal ingredients, maximum nourishment.

Simplicity Body and Mind offers simple and effective face-to-toe skincare designed to nourish, restore, and protect. Our Age Defending Face Oil is a skin-conditioning blend made with argan and hemp seed oils. It helps to balance the skin while easing dryness, dullness, and loss of elasticity. Our Soothe and Revive Foot Balm is a twist-up balm infused with peppermint and tea tree oil perfect for cold Canadian winters and their harsh effects on our feet. For the body, our Daily Repair Body Butter offers rich, lasting comfort for distressed dry skin, delivering fast relief and everyday nourishment.

There are a few things that set Simplicity Body and Mind apart. Our products are proudly Canadian made, crafted in Ontario to support skin through Canada’s harsh winters and seasonal changes. We believe in intentional simplicity, using only carefully selected natural ingredients to create effective, minimal skincare that meets your daily needs without the excess. Our undiluted formulations are completely waterless, meaning every ingredient serves a clear purpose. This concentrated approach delivers maximum nourishment and protection, with nothing unnecessary. Everything is made in small batches to ensure the highest quality and potency with every application. And finally, our commitment to sustainability through simplicity means fewer ingredients, fewer steps, and less waste for your routine and for the planet. We believe in conscious consumption and skincare that truly lasts.

I’m most proud of this journey bringing to life my passion and advocacy for self-care at this stage in my life. Now in my late forties, as a mother of two, a wife, and someone slowly transitioning from a 15-year career in Human Services, I’m honoured to be part of the “it’s never too late to start something new” club.

What I would like potential clients, followers, and fans to know is that Simplicity Body and Mind envisions a world where skincare shifts from excess to intention. We aim to redefine skincare as a self-care ritual one that supports both skin and mind, without unnecessary complexity. We’re on a mission to create simple, effective, and nourishing skincare that fits into your life not the other way around.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

One of the most impactful influences on my journey has been defining my “WHY.” Finding Your Why by Simon Sinek was a game changer in how I view Simplicity Body and Mind. It helped me define our purpose beyond the products we offer rooted in contribution and impact. That insight led to our commitment to donate a percentage of annual profits to local community agencies that support the unhoused, fight food insecurity, and advocate for solutions to end poverty.
I encourage up-and-coming brands to take the time to truly find their “why”, to think beyond their products or services and consider the kind of impact they want to make. When your brand is purpose-driven rather than sales-driven, it adds deeper meaning to your work and sustains your motivation through the challenges.

The second most impactful skill has been networking. It has opened doors to meaningful learning opportunities and connected me with like-minded entrepreneurs. It’s been far more than just a way to share the brand; it’s helped shape how I manage the business. Through networking, I was introduced to SMART goal setting, and it reminded me that building a brand isn’t just about creating a great product. It’s about having a clear vision, solid structure, and a sense of community around you. I encourage those starting out to join networking forums or local business communities. Whether online or in person, surrounding yourself with others on a similar journey can provide invaluable insight, encouragement, and growth.

The third area that’s been essential to my journey is building community. As an introvert, I’ve always felt most comfortable behind the scenes focusing on the work itself. But as a passionate advocate for self-care, I realized that to share Simplicity Body and Mind with others, I needed to create a space that reflects our values and supports our customers. That’s how the Mindful Moments Blog came to life. It’s a space for thoughtful conversations around skincare, natural self-care rituals, healthy living, and intentional lifestyle choices. Whether accessed through our website or via free email subscription, it’s one way we stay connected and offer meaningful content that goes beyond skincare. We want our community to feel seen, informed, and supported. I encourage all entrepreneurs regardless of your product, service, or art to build a community around your brand. It’s the foundation of customer loyalty, trust, and longevity. When people feel like they belong, they come back, not just for your product, but for the experience and values your brand represents.

How would you describe your ideal client?

Simplicity Body and Mind appeals to the ingredient-conscious skincare buyer, someone who values a holistic, wellness-focused lifestyle and takes a mindful approach to what they put on their skin. They’re often frustrated by greenwashing and the misleading marketing claims of so-called “natural” skincare brands.
We also speak directly to the minimalist, those who prefer clean, simple routines and feel overwhelmed by the clutter of multi-step skincare regimens. They don’t have the time or energy for complicated rituals, and they’re tired of products that overpromise and underdeliver.

Whether they’re ingredient-aware or simplicity-driven, many of our customers face common concerns: dryness, dullness, irritation, and sensitivity. They struggle to find products that are truly clean, effective, and gentle. What they want is skincare that’s effortless, honest, and reliable products that simplify their routine rather than complicate it. That’s where Simplicity Body and Mind comes in. We understand both the frustration and the desire. We’re the only brand willing to say, “You don’t need more. You simply need better.” We’ve stripped skincare down to what truly matters: potent, all-natural ingredients in their most effective form. No unnecessary fillers. No excessive steps. Just what your skin needs to stay balanced, nourished, and resilient.
