We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Michelle Colt. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Michelle below.
Michelle , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
From 20 years of deeply looking into self sabotage, nervous system regulation, inherited trauma and the mother wound.
I have been teaching workshops and private coaching for 20 years and doing this work personally as well.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am passionate about helping others to let go of the beliefs, stories, and thoughts that drive, their self sabotage.
I specialize in inherited family trauma, the mother wound, quantum psychology, sharing a lot of the lost divine feminine information that is finally coming back to the forefront, and sharing my vast knowledge of essential oils for calming the nervous system.
I do private sessions with clients, teach workshops, and host a popular podcast by the name of Courage to Shine with Michelle Colt. I also have a lovely e-book available on my website by the name of The Nervous System Whisperer. My website is www.michellecolt.com.
In 2023 I was able to get in touch with a non-resourceful belief that had been running my psychology unconsciously for over 50 years. I was able to see that this “story” wasn’t true and as a result of this any remaining shame and fear was released.
As a result of this I’m presently writing a short/proof of concept with a talented screenwriter, and director in New York City about my work and my own journey.
I will be headed to New York in April for the filming. This is exciting on many levels because it means I will be acting again as well.
I teach Sacred Sisterhood workshops and I have one on February 10th in LA.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Inherited family trauma, the mother wound, nervous system regulation processes and assisting people with using essential oils to ground themselves.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I love this question because I used to feel overwhelmed a lot of the time! Lol.
Nervous system regulation processes are extremely helpful in this regard.
Breathing in for three counts, and out for six counts, known as the double the exhalation breath is very calming for the nervous system.
Noticing gravity and letting your belly relax are also quite regulating.
I am a certified aromatherapist with WISDOM OF THE EARTH and there are many essential oils that help with overwhealm.
The number one most important thing in this regard is letting go of the stories, thoughts and beliefs that do not honor your awesomeness. Most people go through their lives thinking that there is something wrong with them.
This is one of things I focus on helping my clients with.
When we become overwhelmed we are not present. We are in some form of an age regressed trance. This is a coping mechanism that we have been doing often times for many, many years as a way to feel safe.
