Meet Michelle Easley

We were lucky to catch up with Michelle Easley recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Michelle, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

We are blessed to be a blessing. My parents instilled this in me at a very early age. I was raised to give in church, give to those less fortunate and to do what you can with what you have to make a positive difference. This has stuck with me and really been a guiding principle of my life. My mother would always say, yes you pray for people but then you figure out what you can do to help. Love is an action word. I founded a non-profit organization, Hope for Tomorrow International, Inc. It was born after I read a story in the newspaper about a woman living in an extended stay hotel with her family. She was facing some serious financial challenges. I thought to myself, this is terrible. People need to do something to help. Shortly thereafter I heard God telling me, “you are people”. I was led to assist this woman in paying her rent. A dear friend joined in the effort and we were able to pay her rent in the hotel for several months. I don’t have the financial wealth of Oprah Winfrey but I am wealthy in other ways. We all are. Wealth can be found in the gifts we hold. One person may be gifted with the ability to motivate, someone else may have the gift to encourage others, teach, heal, sing, or write. We all have gifts. Being generous with our gifts makes the world a kinder, more loving place.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am the founder and CEO of Positive Push Press. Positive Push Press is more than an independent publisher, it is an empowerment engine based in Atlanta, Georgia. The company is on a mission to empower people through words. The company’s goal is to educate, inform, inspire, and encourage. I love to give people the opportunity to watch their vision come to life, people that often do not get the opportunity to share their message with the world. Positive Push Press publishes titles that support and grow inclusive, diverse environments. I strive to share God’s love and encourage people from all walks of life. I have taken difficult encounters and used them to create books, webinars, training and narratives that are solution-oriented. In addition to publishing books, my company engages in developing, facilitating, and leading sessions for multinational corporations, organizations and churches.

Positive Push Press was created to push people forward positively, and encourage them to press on – Pray Relentlessly Expecting Something Spectacular! The company has published titles such as The Power Of Popular Culture: History, Music and Visual Imagery by Dr. Zerric Clinton and 31 Days of Surrender: Respecting Life Every Day by Michael Allen.

Most recently, Hope for Tomorrow International Inc. was founded. It is an international ministry that provides hope for a brighter day by helping those facing housing insecurity, such as those living in hotels, temporary housing or experiencing homelessness. The mission of the organization is to provide hope for a brighter day by helping those facing housing insecurity to envision a brighter tomorrow. We giveaway coats, clothing, books, personal hygiene items and food to people living in extended stay hotels.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three very important qualities are perseverance, courage, and self discipline. You must persevere even in the face of adversity. Sometimes your ideas may not work out, you might not get the client or your marketing efforts may fall short of your goal. You have to be willing to stay in it for the long term. Perseverance requires courage because you honestly have to be willing to fail. No one is 100 % successful all of the time. Failure really is a great teacher! Courage is required to start any new venture. You won’t know if you will be successful but you do know you won’t be successful if you don’t get out there and try. Self discipline is required to reach any goal. It will take time to research your idea and start your venture. This will undoubtedly require you to focus and refine your craft. This means you have to be willing to put the time in and work in to see your goals become a reality. The way to develop these traits is to jump out there and get started. I am not saying don’t prepare. You can read books, interview successful people, watch videos online or go to a personal coach. You can do all of these things and more. Learn as much as you can but at the end of the day you have to be in motion. Set your goals, get busy working on them and approach each day with joy. I think Nike said it best, “Just do it!”

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I am always looking for new voices to publish. Anyone who has a story to tell or information to share that will make our world better is a perfect fit. I would love to partner with you. If you have a finished manuscript sitting on your shelf now might just be the time to dust it off and get it published. If you have an idea, or have started writing we could work together to get it completed. I am looking to partner with you. Positive Push Press could be the place to turn you dreams of being a published author into a reality. You can connect with us by sending an email to [email protected].
