We were lucky to catch up with Michelle Franklin recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Michelle, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Trials and Tribulations to say the least. My life has always been an interesting journey. So many life lessons from people I thought were close or would never hurt me made me build up a resilience and the mindset that I could achieve anything and everything! Anytime the road became difficult, the universe had a way of working it out!!! I’ve been told by many that I don’t beat by someone else’s drum and that I always figure it out. I believe I make my own melody and the path I choose always seems to show me favor!!!
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Dripping Candles and Designs was created in 2020 out of my love for candles and my desire to share candles that smell absolutely amazing and most importantly that are eco- friendly. Our wood wick candles are made with fragrances that are eco-friendly, none of them containing prop 65. Candles have always been a significant component of my daily life. They change the mood of a room with inviting fragrances of cinnamon, or have been agents of relaxation with smells of lavender, or creating warmth and feelings of coziness to spaces. For far too long the responsibility of being eco-friendly and environmentally conscious has fallen onto the consumer instead of manufacturers. I want to be a brand that is affordable. But more importantly, a company that has taken ownership over ensuring our goods and the manufacturing process of our goods is environmentally conscious. I want to share my love for candles while ensuring every step of my process is filled with mindfulness and a sense of agency to be environmentally conscious. Our candles are made with love, something so essential to providing a safe future to come for generations.
What’s new? I am focusing my attention on being more present with my products being sold in local small businesses and boutiques.
I am also creating more candle experiences with Chelle!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Knowing my worth, Staying consistent and always being confident!
Do not give up and don’t let anyone devalue or insult your gift. Keep chasing your dream. If you thought it, then it’s achievable- stay the course.
Choose people who have the same determination as you do as the entrepreneur path is not for the faint and you will realize that more people will discourage you rather than encourage you so stay around the few that encourage you.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Learning to pivot. The moment you think you are in a groove and things are looking up…… something always happens and changes up the game.
