Meet Michelle Ghassemi

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Michelle Ghassemi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Michelle , so happy to have you on the platform with us today and excited to chat about your lessons and insights. Our ability to make good decisions can massively impact our lives, careers and relationships and so it would be very helpful to hear about how you built your decision-making skills.
I have always wanted to see what I’m capable of so I would take the initiative to try something, always even thru fear and self doubt. I am a naturally curious person and have an insatiable desire for knowledge so I knew I could figure things out and learn how to do something. I trusted myself to figure it out and that’s been instrumental in opening my brick and mortar businesses.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’ve been in the hair/beauty industry for 18 years, 10 as a stylist, as well as managing salons and now the business side exclusively. The reason why I own organic, low toxic salons is due to my health journey behind the chair and why I had to stop doing hair due to severe skin allergies and reproductive issues. Once I developed these health issues, it forced me to take a close look at what I put in and on my body/skin. This is where I discovered safer alternatives that were and are available on the professional level. Everything on the shelves and services offered at Meraki Salons NC stems from that research. I am passionate about high level luxury hair services that can be done using safer alternatives not only for the guest but for the stylist so there can be longevity in their careers. Our non toxic culture is such an integral part of our business, ensuring a safer work environment in all the ways.
I also teach, coach and mentor stylists to take control of their finances from the business side which is why I have a commission business model with many ways to make this a career not just a job!
This has taken me years to perfect and I’m pleased to be able to offer these better and safer ways to do business in our industry and community!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Determination, discipline, consistency

The biggest advantage is my consistency day after day, week after week, year after year just building in my knowledge, expertise, learning new things then refreshing old. You need to find a why that’s so important to you, you will do whatever it takes to make it happen, no matter the time. Im a lifelong learner and curious by nature coupled with a focus that stems from a deep passion to help others, This purpose alone helps drive me past any roadblocks and missteps along the way.

How would you describe your ideal client?
We are always looking/inviting clients & team members who value more than just hair services~wanting to be apart of supporting better in ways to deliver services with safer, more inclusive and responsible methods, in business & products themselves. Those that want to support a business that is small & women owned that empower folks who want safer spaces & cleaner products/services, all in an environment of kindness, empathy, education & life long growth.
