Meet Michelle Lorenzo

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Michelle Lorenzo . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Michelle below.

Michelle , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I believe my resilience comes from a combination of factors. Firstly, I have always been a self-motivated individual, constantly pushing myself to overcome challenges and set new goals. This inner drive to succeed has helped me bounce back from setbacks and navigate through difficult times.

Secondly, I have a strong support system in my family and friends. Their encouragement, belief in me, and ability to provide a listening ear have been instrumental in boosting my resilience. Knowing that I have a network of people who genuinely care about my well-being gives me the confidence to persevere and stay positive.

Additionally, I find inspiration and motivation in hearing stories of other successful individuals who have overcome adversity. Learning from their experiences and seeing their resilience in action reminds me that setbacks are a normal part of life, and with determination and perseverance, I can overcome any obstacle.

Lastly, I believe that practicing self-care and maintaining a healthy work-life balance are essential for building and sustaining resilience. Engaging in activities that bring me joy, such as Crossfit, spending time with my kids, and outdoor activities like snowboarding and mountain biking helps me recharge and maintain a positive mindset.

Overall, my resilience stems from a combination of personal drive, a strong support system, learning from others’ experiences, and practicing self-care. These factors continually fuel my determination to face challenges head-on and bounce back.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

As a REALTOR®️, I have found that there are three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have been particularly impactful in my journey:

1. Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial in the real estate industry. Being able to clearly convey information, actively listen to clients’ needs and concerns, and negotiate with other parties involved in a transaction are vital skills. Developing strong verbal and written communication skills will not only help you build trust and rapport with clients but also navigate through various situations smoothly.

Advice for early professionals: Practice active listening and pay attention to the needs and preferences of your clients. Continuously work on improving your communication skills by seeking feedback, attending workshops or seminars, and studying successful communicators within and outside the industry.

2. Market Knowledge: A deep understanding of the local real estate market is essential for a REALTOR®️. Being aware of market trends, property values, and economic factors that impact the industry allows you to provide valuable insights to clients and make well-informed recommendations. Staying updated on the latest market data, industry news, and regulations will give you a competitive edge.

Advice for early professionals: Immerse yourself in market research and analysis. Regularly read industry publications, attend networking events, and connect with experienced professionals to enhance your knowledge. Consider joining professional associations or organizations that provide educational resources and networking opportunities.

3. Relationship Building: Building strong relationships with clients, fellow real estate professionals, and industry stakeholders is crucial for success. As a REALTOR®️, your network and reputation play a significant role in generating referrals and repeat business. Being reliable, trustworthy, and demonstrating a genuine interest in the well-being of your clients will help you establish long-lasting connections.

Advice for early professionals: Focus on building genuine and authentic relationships. Attend industry events, engage with potential clients through social media, and participate in community activities. Take the time to understand your clients’ needs and provide exceptional customer service. Seek mentorship or guidance from experienced professionals who can offer valuable insights.

In summary, the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have been impactful in my journey as a REALTOR®️ are communication skills, market knowledge, and relationship building. My advice for early professionals is to focus on developing and improving these areas through continuous learning, networking, and building authentic relationships. By investing in these core areas, you can lay a strong foundation for a successful real estate career.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I have developed a set of strategies to help me regain control and manage the situation effectively. Here are a few approaches that have proven to be helpful for me:

1. Prioritize and Organize: I start by reassessing my to-do list or workload and identifying the tasks or responsibilities that require immediate attention. By prioritizing tasks based on their urgency and importance, I can focus my energy on completing the most critical ones first. Breaking down larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps also helps me feel more in control.

2. Take Breaks and Practice Self-Care: Stepping away from the overwhelming situation for a short period can provide a fresh perspective and allow me to recharge. I make it a point to take short breaks, engage in activities that help me relax and rejuvenate, such as exercise, outdoor activities, listening to music or reading. Taking care of my physical and mental well-being is essential in managing the feeling of being overwhelmed.

3. Seek Support and Delegate: I believe in the power of collaboration and reaching out for support when needed. I am not afraid to ask for help or delegate tasks to others who are capable of assisting. Sharing the workload not only lightens the burden but also allows others to contribute their expertise and ideas.

4. Break Down Complex Tasks: When faced with complex or daunting tasks, I find it helpful to break them down into smaller, more manageable parts. This approach allows me to focus on one aspect at a time, reducing feelings of overwhelm and increasing productivity.

5. Practice Time Management Techniques: I have found that practicing effective time management techniques can significantly reduce overwhelm. This includes techniques such as time blocking, setting reminders, and creating a daily calendar.

6. Reflect and Learn: After overcoming a period of overwhelm, I take the time to reflect on the experience and learn from it. I analyze what caused the overwhelm and identify strategies that worked well or could be improved upon. This reflection helps me better prepare for future challenges.

My advice for others who may feel overwhelmed is to remember that it is a normal experience and that everyone faces moments of overwhelm at some point. It’s important to be kind to yourself and acknowledge that it’s okay to ask for help or take a step back when needed. Developing self-awareness about your triggers and stressors is also valuable, as it allows you to proactively manage them.

Lastly, don’t hesitate to seek guidance from mentors, colleagues, or professional resources. They can provide valuable insights and support during overwhelming times. By implementing these strategies and seeking support, you can effectively navigate through overwhelming situations and maintain a sense of balance and productivity.
