We were lucky to catch up with Michelle Vejar recently and have shared our conversation below.
Michelle , so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I practice optimism daily
Gratitude: I start most days by reflecting on the things I am most grateful for. This is a powerful way to cultivate optimism.
Resilience: Reminding Myself that negative feelings are temporary. This perspective can prevent pessimism from taking root during difficult moments.
Negative Self-Talk: Acknowledging the importance of curbing negative self-talk is crucial. Negative self-talk can be a significant obstacle to optimism, and recognizing its presence is the first step in overcoming it. Changing this aspect of your thinking can be very challenging, but it’s a valuable skill to develop over time. When I need help with this I read books on the subject
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Professionally I’m passionate about pursuing two fulfilling careers. Firstly, I am the proud owner of Rock-n-Boho Clothing, a boutique in Nashville that curates fashion with a unique blend of Rock-n-Roll and Bohemian influences. Our brand seamlessly combines the edginess of rock fashion with the free-spirited, eclectic, and relaxed vibes of the boho style. I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some of Nashville’s top stylists, including Emily Bache, Abigail Breslin, and Payton Dale. Through these valuable connections, Rock-n-Boho has been prominently featured in People Magazine, music videos, and album covers. Looking ahead to 2024, I have exciting plans to expand our brand by introducing funky and distinctive home decor items, giving rise to Rock-n-Bohome. You can find our unique offerings at Dashwood Vintage and Flora if you’re in Nashville or visit our online store at Rocknbohoclothing.com.
In addition to my role as a boutique owner, I am an Audience Strategist for MNI Targeted Media. Working with brands and ad agencies by providing strategic guidance that informs media planning and drives advertising ROI. Revenue generator across industries with expertise in data and audience targeting strategies, cookie-less solutions, contextual advertising, targeted magazine tactics, product
launches, and audience analysis to get messaging seen at the right time on the right device.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Don’t fear Failure! Failure isn’t the end. It’s the beginning of reaching your goals.
Be authentic.
Do what you love.
I am very grateful that I am able to to have two careers that I love. My creative side is fulfilled with Rock-n-Boho.
in my role with MNI I am able to be of service to other small and large business. I think it is also important to surround
yourself with people that inspire you and support you.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
Right now I am reading Un#@%! Yourself: Get Out of Your Head and into Your Life. One of the quotes I refer back to is
“you must first accept that while there are things that have happened in your life that you had no say in, you are 100 percent responsible for what you do with your life in the aftermath of those events. Always, every time, no excuses.”
