Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mick Rose. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mick, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.
One of the biggest and most important things I learned while studying for my first degree was the importance of taking breaks. I avoid burnout by taking time for myself whenever and however necessary.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My current hats include owner/artist manager at High Crest Musix and Administrative Coordinator for the National Black Trans Advocacy Coalition. What’s most exciting about the multiple hats that I wear is that I can see in real time the benefit and reward of the people that I choose to serve as well as artist that I currently have on my roster.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back the three skills that have been most impactful in my journey are communication, time management and optimism. I’m not one to give advice because I feel that everyones path and journey is completely different. What I will say is that I developed the three skills by committing to myself and giving myself space and room to grow the skills I knew I needed early on.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
The most helpful person in my life is my wife! She motivates me and speaks to the God in me every single day. Not only is she a very driven and loving person she’s one that doesn’t take no for an answer and one that encourages growth in everyone that surrounds her by her own actions.
