MidwestMyles , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

It’s simple. Just the passion for creating music. Hip Hop is an art form I’m blessed to be a part of. I’ve been obsessed with music since middle school. I always wanted to create. A lot of my skills have been the development of listening and observing over 20+ years.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a producer specializing in Hip Hop, I love crafting beats. I make and sell beats but also work with a lot of rappers on collab projects. One of my main focuses right now is making dope music with artists. Having myself on the beat and an MC on the mic. In the near future I’m having the chance to get some industry rappers on some tracks and I’m really excited for that.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Being open to sounds that aren’t in your usual range. That can definitely help you creatively. Another thing is if you are early on and just starting music, almost nothing comes over night. You will have to keep pushing and you will probably have a lot of let downs but it’s very possible to achieve success. Lastly practice makes perfect. Continue your craft and create something that’s uniquely you. Be familiar but different at the same time if that makes sense.
