Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mihai Daniel Juravlea. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mihai Daniel, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
To keep my creativity alive, I make sure to give myself time and space to experiment and explore. I’m constantly trying different techniques, approaches, and tools to keep my perspectives fresh. I also seek out new sources of inspiration, whether it be through other artists, watching documentaries, movies, or otherwise. Additionally, I’ve found it’s important to step back from time to time, allow for a period of rest and introspection, after which I find my creative spark is even brighter.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a Graphic designer who specializes in creative 3D visuals, Animations, Digital illustrations and more. I strive to create unique and cutting-edge designs that reflect my passion for visual communication and storytelling.
The most exciting part about being a designer, in my opinion, is the opportunity to bring an idea to life. It’s incredibly satisfying to take a visual concept and manipulate it into a tangible artwork or video that expresses the idea in a powerful way. The creative process involves not just the technical skills of design, but an emotional connection with the subject, and a desire to transform thoughts and messages into something visual and impactful. It’s that combination of technical and emotional elements that makes design truly special.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
One of the most impactful elements in my journey was acquiring a deep understanding of design fundamentals, such as composition, color theory, storytelling, and visual logic. These skills have allowed me to create visually striking and meaningful designs that connect with the audience. Advice for new designers would be to learn and practice these underlying principles to ensure your designs stay strong and impactful.
Another quality that has been impactful in my journey has been learning to trust my own creative instincts. The best designers have a strong intuition about what will work and what will resonate. Trust in your instincts and let your creative intuition guide you.
Lastly, having the courage to take risks and pursue creative challenges is critical to a designer’s journey. It’s not always easy to venture outside one’s comfort zone, but in designing, taking risks sometimes translates to innovation. When you push yourself to try new techniques or tackle unfamiliar concepts, you get the opportunity to grow as a designer. My advice for starting designers is to take chances and welcome challenges, as that will help you become a better designer in the long run.
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
I’m quite busy with work lately, so I’m focusing on taking care of myself. I manage my time wisely to make sure I meet deadlines and deliver good quality. I also take regular breaks to avoid burnout and stay focused. Keeping a healthy work-life balance is key to delivering quality work while retaining my health and wellbeing.
