Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mike C. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Mike, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re very focused on here – improving our ability to make decisions. Everyday, we’re faced with decisions that can impact the future of our careers, businesses, relationships and more and so one of the most impactful areas for personal development, in our view, is decision-making. Can you talk to us about how you developed or improved your decision-making skills?
I developed my decision making skills a bit late in life. By the time I got independent, I never had the skill to make decisions firmly. I was very weak at a point when I just decided to work hard. I kept on working three jobs sideways running a business. It took me six months to actually quit all those three jobs and decide to change my career from being an engineer to running a marketing agency. This was the first step towards developing my decision making skills. At this moment, I started to analyze things practically and make my way up establishing a business, first remotely and eventually having an inhouse team of 23 people. I think a fair answer to how I developed my decision making skills was when I started to weigh things and look at the practical aspect of things.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Well, professionally I am an engineer. But I would call myself a businessman since I own three companies on a global scale. I run a multi million dollar marketing agency and a construction firm operating on an international scale. We operate mainly in the US, UK & UAE. My brand mainly revolves around perfection. Whether its marketing or construction, our aim is to simply make everything finesse. Moreover, things I enjoy the most while running business is seeing my employees grow. I believe growth is when you don’t increase your profits but your revenue which is increased once your employees put in the extra effort and the only way they do that is when they’re taken care of as family. So that definitely is my secret to success 😉
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I believe humans can do anything on one condition and that is ‘consistency’. My journey was merely being consistent. A science student polished his communication skills eventually started off as a sales person and a few years later was running his own office after quitting three jobs. Consistency combined with hard work is an unbeatable combo.
I think if one has interest in a particular field, dedicated and is consistent to work to achieve something, nothing could ever stop that person. So my advice to all the folks starting, just know its never too late. Be dedicated, work hard and be consistent towards your dream and you will achieve that.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
I am certain about one thing. That is their unconditional support in everything. My father who has parted this world wanted me to be a doctor but I followed his footsteps becoming an engineer and eventually setup my business. During this time, there wasn’t a single time my parents did not support me. They always guided me well enough to be a better person.
I think their upbringing and constant mentoring has taken me to this point where people don’t look at me as another business owner but as their family. Even my relationship with my employees is like a family.
