Meet Mike Clark

We were lucky to catch up with Mike Clark recently and have shared our conversation below.

Mike, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.

It’s important to know that you have haters because that’s a sign you are success and achieving your goals and there are those people who want what you have, to be what you are and to take what you’ve earned! The biggest thing I learned was to not allow that to change my frame of mine and purpose, for example. There was same hatred and love coming to me at the same time and both things helped me back in my field, I didn’t allow them to take away the reason why I play music but instead, they let me know that I’m doing well, which is why they’re trying to stop me, in other words if you’re being stopped or held back because the haters that means continue on because you’re on the right track

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1.Believing in yourself and your work is most important!
2.Your energy and spirit comes through your work, if you’re angry, unsettled and unsure your track will more than likely sound like that, when it comes to recording and producing you want to be in the best spirits and energy and record your positive energy! It’ll go out to the world with that same energy!
3.Make sure your technique and skills are practiced until it’s Muscle memory so you don’t have to think about it while performing it’ll just come natural…

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

When they noticed me focusing on music and Dj, both parents supported it my father bought me a mixer and he used turntable, and my mother saw that I was serious with it and eventually bought me my first pair of turntables and they both allow me to play as much as I could, running up the electricity bill lol, but because they saw that I was serious about it they encouraged me to pursue it all the way I was very proud to DJ at big events and festivals and see my parents and grandparents looking at me proudly as I played for thousands of people! Words cannot describe that feeling.
