Mike, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
Engaging with young individuals has elevated creativity and passion, fostering self-confidence and positive growth through our clothing brand and youth programs. The Elite Brand has evolved into a cornerstone in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, particularly in Streetwear fashion and youth sports starting at the age of 2.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Growing up in poverty in Austin, TX, and its surroundings, I was the oldest in a single-parent household skillfully managed by my mother. Despite our financial struggles, my mother’s resilience shielded us from the harsh realities of our situation until our teen years. My childhood was marked by a diverse range of sports, with a particular focus on football, complemented by stints in baseball and basketball. Taking my athletic prowess to the collegiate level, I earned a scholarship playing football and successfully graduated in four years with a business/management degree from Texas A&M University Commerce.
Post-graduation, I delved into the professional realm, gaining valuable experience managing large-scale events such as concerts, sporting events, and festivals. Leveraging the knowledge and resources acquired, I embarked on a new venture – the creation of Elite Athletic Streetwear. This journey reflects not only my dedication to sports and education but also the entrepreneurial spirit born out of overcoming early-life challenges.
The Elite Empire began as a youth sports training at the start of Covid for interested/ available kids and those from impoverished backgrounds. We started with 2 kids and quickly grew to 50 before topping out at 294, all within a year. The clothing brand spawned as a means to fund our programs while allowing the wearer to embody an elite unconquerable and victorious spirit! 2 years later we’re here to stay, and make a global imprint in the Streetwear and youth sports industry in an unconventional way

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I do my best to consistently adhere to these 3 principles

Ultimately, these principles contributed to the Elite Empires sustained productivity, strategic alignment, and the ability to navigate obstacles, fostering long-term success in the business world!
