Meet M’ikeiah Jordan

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful M’ikeiah Jordan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with M’ikeiah below.

M’ikeiah, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

When my clients first get on set, most of them are excited to work with me. They’ve heard great things about my energy, my work ethic, and my photos.
But I can always tell — deep down, they’re nervous.
Not about me, but about themselves.
A lot of people who come to me are business owners—or amazing every
day-to-day people doing their first photoshoot ever, or individuals who don’t think they’re photogenic, or those who’ve been struggling with how they see their body.
Some are doing it as a luxury treat to remind themselves they’re still beautiful — but it’s that quiet uncertainty in some of my clients eyes that challenges me every single time.

And that’s my mission — to beat the negative way people view themselves when they step in front of my lens… and to win them over by the time they walk away.
Because by the end, I want them to realize, “This was you all along.”

You see, I learned a long time ago that the mind is powerful — if you don’t see yourself as beautiful, no amount of compliments can change that. So I use my camera to show people a version of themselves that they stopped believing in.
It’s not just photography — it’s re-seeing yourself.

Growing up as an only child with just my mom and dad, I didn’t have peers around me to connect with. People often assumed I had everything, and because of that, I was intentionally singled out a lot. What they didn’t know is that I spent most of my childhood just wanting to connect.
I had to learn how to truly see people — how to understand them, how to make them feel seen. And that’s what photography became for me: my bridge.

In middle school, I joined a program called the Young Entrepreneurs Academy — “YEA” — where we were handpicked for our grades and creativity. That’s when I started realizing, Oh, I actually have something.
I started growing into my personality — into myself.

Photography eventually taught me something deeper: to love both the before and the after.
The before matters just as much — the nervousness, the bare face, the uncertainty.
Because I believe in being your natural self, but I also believe in giving your 100% effort — whatever that looks like for you.
Imagery does matter. And when you look good, you feel good.

So yes — I relight people’s light.
I help them see the beauty that was always there, the beauty they might’ve lost sight of along the way.
I help them realize that what makes them different isn’t something to hide — it’s something to highlight.

And the truth is… every time I light that spark in someone else, it keeps my own light burning too.
That’s the real reason I do this.
Because when they look at those photos and see themselves differently — I see myself differently too.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m M’ikeiah Jordan, founder of Mikeiah Jordan LLC — a beauty, lifestyle, and portrait photographer whose purpose reaches far beyond the camera.

I don’t just capture images — I capture reminders.
Reminders of who you are before the world told you otherwise.
For over a decade, I’ve dedicated myself to helping people see their worth again — reigniting light in their eyes, confidence in their spirit, and beauty in their reflection.

My love for photography started in middle school with the very first camera my mom bought me. It wasn’t fancy, but it was mine. By high school, it had turned into my heartbeat. What began as curiosity became my calling — a path that’s taken me from small-town shoots to the bright chaos of New York Fashion Week, where I’ve captured Runway 7, Rick Ross’ real “Edition 22” collection, and countless unforgettable faces.

Over the years, I’ve worked alongside incredible talents — Desi Banks, FunnyMike, Corey & Carmen, BeeJay Tv, Ayo & Teo, Jr Boss, Rubberband OG, Carlos Brown, Byrd Bino, Yung Bleu, JMB Juvie, Bigga Rankin, Jasmine Bleu, Yung Bino, YFM Ray, and more.
I’ve been blessed to network with powerful industry names like Tee Grizzley, Miss Megann, Asian Doll, and so many more AMAZING others.

But one story will always stay with me — Aduta Atem.
We met in New York. I stopped her right in the middle of Times Square and said, “Let’s shoot here — right now.” No studio. No lights. Just her, me, and the city breathing around us. A month later, she got signed. That moment reminded me that sometimes, your purpose is waiting for you in the middle of chaos — all you have to do is see it.

What I love most isn’t the photos themselves — it’s the transformation.
People often walk onto my set nervous, shy, unsure. But by the end, when they see their photos — the real them shining through — something changes. Their eyes ignites. Their mouth drop. They whisper—or scream, “This was me all along.”
and that?
that’s my art.

Growing up as an only child, I often felt disconnected — surrounded by love, but lacking peers, yet still searching for connection. People assumed I had everything, but I was quietly longing to have a way to connect with people outside of myself. Photography became my language — my bridge to people’s hearts.

When I was accepted into the Young Entrepreneurs Academy in middle school, I realized I didn’t have to fit in to matter — I just had to create something meaningful. That belief carried me here.

Photography taught me to fall in love with both the before and after.
The nervous version and the glowing one.
Because both deserve to be celebrated.
That’s why when someone steps in front of my camera, I don’t just take their picture —
I take their truth.
I take the version of them they stopped believing in… and hand it back to them, radiant and real.

Because what makes you different isn’t something to hide — it’s something to highlight.

And every time I light that spark in someone else, it keeps my own light burning, too.

This is more than photography — it’s purpose.
And for anyone searching for theirs, remember: when your purpose finally reveals itself, it’s rarely loud or perfect. It’s that quiet fire inside of you that never went out — and learning to keep it lit.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three things that changed everything for me were vision, resilience, and emotional connection.

1. Vision — Long before I had the gear, I had the vision. I could see things other people couldn’t — how someone could look under the right light, how a moment could feel in an image. That vision guided me even when I didn’t have all the tools.
✨ Advice: Start by training your eye, not your equipment. Learn to see beauty in what already exists — the light hitting your wall, the emotions in people’s faces. Vision comes before opportunity.

2. Resilience — The journey hasn’t been easy. There were times I had to create with what I had, to keep showing up even when I felt overlooked or underestimated. But that resilience built my foundation — it taught me consistency, patience, and self-belief.
✨ Advice: Don’t wait for perfect conditions. Create anyway. The pressure you feel is shaping your character and your craft at the same time.

3. Emotional Connection — My work changed the moment I realized photography isn’t just about how people look — it’s about how they feel. Once I started connecting with people’s emotions, fears, and hopes, my photos gained depth and meaning.
✨ Advice: Don’t just capture people — see them. Listen to their story. Make them feel safe, seen, and valued. That’s when the real magic happens, because photography — and success in general — starts with human connection.

If I had to sum it up: don’t chase validation, chase vision.
Your light will hit at the exact time it’s supposed to — but you have to keep it burning in the meantime.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely. I’m not just open to collaborations — I’m intentional about them.
My vision is to expand my reach by partnering with brands, creatives, and visionaries who share my obsession with beauty, storytelling, and the kind of imagery that feels expensive.

I specialize in beauty, lifestyle, high-fashion, and commercial-style photography — with a focus on visuals that look like they belong on billboards or in glossy campaigns. My dream collaborations are with brands like MAC Cosmetics, Fenty Beauty, Nars, L’Oréal, Maybelline, and NYX — projects that merge art with emotion and stop people mid-scroll. Whether it’s a product launch, campaign, or editorial, my goal never changes: to make you — and your brand — look unforgettable.

Beyond beauty, I love working with beauty warehouses, luxury spaces, country and yacht clubs, designers, and boutiques — creating visuals that feel modern, aspirational, and cinematic. My process isn’t just about taking photos; it’s about building a visual identity that makes people fall in love with what they see.

And on a personal level — one of my biggest dreams is to work closely with a public figure or artist (like Nicki Minaj) as their lifestyle and tour photographer. I want to document the art, evolution, and magic that happens behind the scenes — the unfiltered moments that define a legacy.

Right now, I’m open to collaborations that offer both stability and creative freedom — long-term partnerships where I can show up, create, and consistently deliver visuals that move people.
