Meet Mikkita Moore

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mikkita Moore a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Mikkita, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
To be honest, my purpose found me, I ran for a long time before I truly looked in the mirror and began to be honest with myself. I remember being so mean, angry, and depressed all at the same time. Not knowing what to do or why I was feeling the way that I felt. I also remember being so very afraid to open up because of what other people thought about me. I needed what I thought was validation from everyone else but the person in the mirror.

That is the very moment that I had to make a choice. It’s either me or the stranger in the mirror!!!!!

In 2016, I wrote my first book that is entitled, “The Letter, From the Invisible Daughter”, and that is what started the journey to purpose.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Mikkita L Moore, known as the Transparency Motivator, she is an Author, Publisher, Realtor, and International Motivational Speaker. Mikkita, is the Founder of Art of Transparency, NFP, Co-Founder of KiYha Moore Foundation, Host of Story Time with Mikkita TV Show, also CEO of Invisible Daughter, LLC, Owner of AOT TV on the OCP network.

Mikkita, is what we call a Serial Entrepreneur. She is extremely passionate about teaching others about transparency and her journey of being fully aware of who she is today. Her ability to candidly speak from the heart about her life’s journey which includes forgiving a father that wasn’t, in her opinion, able to be the model man she had desperately needed as a young girl growing into womanhood, she continued to struggle with her inner feelings. Being able to now convey these imbedded emotions is not only for her audience but also comforting for her. Learning the Art of Transparency is equivalent to facing and being fully aware of who she is, her ability to candidly speak from the heart about real life issues and how to conquer life’s trials is one of her greatest gifts.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
How beneficial it is to have the skill to ignite the path of change. Mikkita’s niche is engaging her audience with realistic topics that help identify the issues and the willingness to work towards resolutions. Her first two books, The Letter From, the Invisible Daughter as well as The Cause and Effect of The Invisible Daughter, talks about, among other topics, parenting a child that’s different from the rest and her doubts of being a good mother. As she speaks candidly about her thoughts of suicide and being in unsafe relationships that included domestic violence; emotional, mental and physical, she creates and implements strategies to be used in the moment to begin healing processes for others. Most gatherings include hands-on activities. There’s only room for results; a growth mindset. Mikkita continues to receive multiple invites to speak due this direct approach which call for peace and progress in the lives of others.

Mikkita, has used her leadership skills that has organized a six year, nine to twelve city tour. Being the founder of The Art of Transparency, NFP, she toured from 2016 through 2023. The Not-for-Profit Organization made an amazing impact in each city we touched; we left an impact with our community work. Some of those community organizations needed our help far beyond just coming in to talk and leave a care package. We never want to just be about talk… We decided to make a community impact in every city that we touch. We help by donating for funding, feeding the homeless, having motivational seminars, leadership workshops, as well as help with finding resources to help those involved and suffering with trauma. We want people to know AOT is here to help in any way that we can. The Art of Transparency prides itself on leadership and testimony.

Mikkita, has a transparency motivating skill, that allows her to help other’s write their memoirs. She brings out the memories, feelings, and sometimes the soul wrenching memories that most people have suppressed due to childhood trauma, adult trauma, and feelings of despair.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
When I started writing, I had truly one message and that was; to reach an audience on a level that’s different from the rest. I needed to reach an audience that hasn’t heard about the Black girl from the south side of Chicago that wasn’t poor and not knowing where her next meal would come from. The girl that her mother wasn’t a drug addict, father wasn’t a drug pusher. I was tired of the stereo types that I had to be from this type of family or that kind of family because I had my first child at the age of 14 years old. My all-time favorite was the one that says teenage moms can’t raise their children effectively or the one that says teenage moms are all high school dropouts. Neither of which proves true for me.

My books are not about the average poor Black girl living in poverty. My book is about my life, from a perspective of a teenage mom that didn’t struggle, that didn’t drop out of high school but in fact graduated high school a year ahead of time with honors. This book is my life from a perspective that thought about suicide, went through domestic violence, emotionally mentally and physically. This book talks from a perspective of not feeling the love of my father searching for that type of love from boys/men that either couldn’t give it or just didn’t know how to give love.

In the last 12 months, I had to make a business decision to take hiatus from doing The Art of Transparency, NFP tour, and put Mikkita Moore the Author, the Realtor, the CEO in the forefront of networking. It is time to elevate as the CEO and Founder of all my businesses. I truly believe that your network is your net worth. I want to meet people from all over the world while cultivating relationships into collaborations and clients. The Art of Transparency Tour was comfortable, it is now time for me to become uncomfortable.

I am doing it scared!
