Meet Mikkita Moore

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mikkita Moore a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Mikkita , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I found my purpose through the very experiences that could have destroyed me. The trauma, the pain, and now even the loss of my father were not designed to make me fail. They were preparing me. Every hardship I’ve endured became a stepping stone, showing me that my life is not just about survival—it’s about service. My purpose is to take what I’ve already overcome and use it to help others find their way through pain, loss, and uncertainty. What once broke me now fuels me, and I know I was called to turn my struggles into strength for others.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I wear many hats, but at the heart of it all, I’m a storyteller and a guide. I’m a Realtor helping families find a place to call home, an author of more than 15 books sharing my testimony of overcoming trauma, and a speaker using my voice to bring healing and hope to audiences across the world. What excites me most is that every piece of my work—whether it’s helping a first-time buyer, publishing a book, or speaking at a conference—centers around one mission: helping people find peace, purpose, and possibility.

What makes my brand unique is that it’s not built on theory, but on lived experience. I’ve walked through pain, loss, and resilience, and I show others that it’s possible to rise stronger.

Right now, I’m especially excited about growing my real estate business with Better Homes and Gardens, where I help buyers find their dream homes, sellers move forward with confidence, and investors build wealth through real estate. Whether it’s a first-time buyer taking that big step, a family ready to sell and start a new chapter, or an investor looking for smart opportunities, I love guiding people through the process with education, care, and strategy.

Beyond real estate, I am the co-founder of the KiYha Moore Foundation, which was birthed from my daughter’s painful experiences with bullying. What started as a personal fight to protect her and restore her confidence has grown into an organization dedicated to helping youth ages 6 to 17 build resilience, character, and hope. Our mission is to stand against bullying, violence, and drugs, while also addressing the realities of depression and suicidal ideation. Through programs like the Buddy Club and community outreach, we provide mentorship, resources, and safe spaces for young people to thrive. The foundation is not just about awareness—it’s about action, prevention, and empowerment.

I also have new book projects on the horizon that dig even deeper into healing and empowerment. Every new venture—whether it’s real estate, writing, speaking, or nonprofit work—is another way to serve, uplift, and leave a lasting impact. And that’s what drives everything I do.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities have been the most impactful in my journey: resilience, faith, and communication.

Resilience has carried me through trauma, setbacks, and even the loss of my father. Life will test you, but the ability to get back up—no matter how many times you’ve been knocked down—is where strength is built. For anyone starting out, resilience grows when you stop seeing failure as final and start seeing it as feedback.

Faith has kept me grounded. It’s what gave me purpose when everything around me felt uncertain. Whether that faith is spiritual or simply belief in yourself, you need an anchor. My advice: nurture your faith daily—through prayer, journaling, affirmations, or quiet time—because your mindset will set the tone for your journey.

Finally, communication has opened doors. As a speaker, author, and Realtor, I’ve learned that being able to tell your story and connect with people on a real level is powerful. For those early in their journey, I recommend practicing transparency and authenticity. People don’t connect with perfection—they connect with truth.

So if you’re starting out, focus on building resilience, anchoring yourself in faith, and developing authentic communication. Those three qualities will not only help you navigate challenges, they’ll allow you to impact others along the way.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

My biggest area of growth over the past 12 months has been overcoming mental health and anxiety challenges while rebuilding my life and career after the loss of my father. He was my biggest supporter, and learning how to keep going without his presence was one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced. There were moments when the weight of grief almost pulled me into depression, but I knew who my father was and what he stood for in my life. His legacy reminded me that I had no choice but to keep moving forward, to honor him by working through the pain instead of being consumed by it. That growth…. choosing resilience over despair, has reshaped not only how I live but how I show up for others.
