Meet Mila Shmurak

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mila Shmurak a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Mila, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

My journey toward purpose began with a desire to heal—from the inside out. Years ago, I became passionate about living a cleaner, more conscious lifestyle and also finding a solution for my mother in law (a breast cancer survivor). That led me to create Bare Pits, a natural deodorant and body-care line rooted in the belief that armpit care is skin care. What started as a simple idea to remove toxins from one part of our lives became a doorway to deeper healing and self-awareness.

As I immersed myself in holistic wellness, I discovered the profound power of energy work. Reiki transformed me. It taught me how to slow down, tune in, and connect to something greater. Through that experience, I realized my calling: to help others release what weighs them down and rediscover their light.

That’s how Reiki Newport Beach was born—a sanctuary for energy healing, mindfulness, and emotional restoration. Later, I founded Womeneedz, a collective space for women to connect, share, and support one another’s growth through holistic and spiritual practices.

My purpose is to hold space for others to feel safe, seen, and renewed—to remind each person that healing is not just physical. It’s about returning home to your soul.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Today, I’m grateful to blend my passions through three aligned ventures — Reiki Newport Beach, Bare Pits, and WOMENEEDZ — all rooted in natural healing, conscious living, and empowering others to reconnect to their true selves.

At Reiki Newport Beach, I guide clients through energy healing sessions that help release stress, emotional blockages, and energetic imbalances. My work focuses on restoring harmony between the mind, body, and soul. Each session is different — sometimes it’s deep emotional release, sometimes it’s gentle relaxation, but always it’s about coming home to inner peace. I have also been very passionate to work with Seniors and others going through cancer treatment. I believe I am a tool to help align your chakras putting your body back into a restful nervous system state where you can heal from within,

Bare Pits, my first creation, was born from love and necessity — a clean, sustainable body-care line infused with Monoi de Tahiti and other nourishing botanicals. It represents the philosophy that caring for your skin — even your armpits — can be an act of self-love. Our products are handcrafted in California, made with pure ingredients, and designed to elevate daily rituals into mindful moments.

Through Womeneedz, I’ve built a community space for women to gather, heal, and grow — offering workshops, energy sessions, and soulful experiences that foster sisterhood and empowerment. I am the wellness coach at JCC.

What excites me most is how all of this work connects — each part supports the other, helping people feel lighter, more grounded, and aligned.

Right now, helping private sessions, private parties, wellness expos and expanding Reiki Newport Beach into community and corporate wellness offerings through HolistiCorp, bringing energy healing, breathwork, and sound therapy into workplaces, senior homes and wellness events across Orange County and Los Angeles. We also have new Bare Pits launches on the way, including our Monoi de Tahiti Anti-Frizz Hair Serum and Magnesium Body Cream Bar – Paradise, designed to enhance deep sleep and relaxation.

My goal is simple: to inspire others to care for their energy, their body, and their heart — because true wellness starts from within. Finding a ay to live heart centered.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

When I look back on my path, three qualities have been the most impactful in shaping who I am today: intuition, resilience, and compassion — all deepened through learning from life’s lessons and my yoga practice.

Intuition has always been my inner compass. Whether I’m formulating clean products for Bare Pits or guiding Reiki sessions at Reiki Newport Beach, I’ve learned that trusting your inner voice leads to true alignment. Yoga and meditation taught me how to quiet the noise of the world so I could actually hear that inner wisdom. My advice for anyone beginning their journey: make space for stillness. Your intuition grows stronger the more you listen to it.

Resilience came from experience — the challenges, pivots, and lessons that tested my strength. Each obstacle was an opportunity to stretch and grow, just like in yoga. Balance isn’t about never falling; it’s about how gracefully you get back up. So when life feels uncertain, breathe, ground yourself, and trust the process.

Compassion — for myself and for others — has been the heart of everything I do. It’s easy to be kind when things flow, but real compassion shows up when life feels heavy. My yoga practice reminded me that we all move through seasons, and every soul deserves grace — including our own.

To anyone early in their journey: stay open, keep learning from your lessons, and lead with love. When your heart, mind, and body align, your purpose unfolds naturally.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Absolutely — collaboration is at the heart of everything I do. I believe that when conscious creators, healers, and educators come together with shared intention, the energy expands and lives are transformed.

I’m always open to partnering with Reiki practitioners, sound healers, yoga instructors, holistic doctors, wellness coaches, and mindful brands who align with the mission of raising collective well-being. Through Reiki Newport Beach, I continue to co-create transformative events — from community wellness experiences and corporate programs to private parties, women’s circles, and energy-infused celebrations that blend sound healing, Reiki, and mindfulness.

I also collaborate with breast cancer awareness and recovery organizations, offering gentle Reiki and energy balancing sessions to support women on their healing journey. These collaborations are deeply meaningful to me — they bring light, hope, and calm to those navigating some of life’s hardest moments.

With Bare Pits, I am passionate about expanding armpit and lymphatic health education, helping people understand that “armpit care is skin care” and how detoxing this area can support hormone balance and lymphatic wellness.

“I launched REIKEY Home Group to bring energy-clearing and space-harmonizing services into real estate, helping clients create balanced, uplifting environments when loving, buying, or selling their homes.” Our family real estate Company Key Home Group.

Looking ahead, I’m open to speaking engagements and TEDx-style talks to share insights about anrmpit health, energy alignment, natural healing, and the mind-body-soul connection.

If you feel aligned or inspired to collaborate — whether through wellness events, brand partnerships, or health organizations — I’d love to connect. Visit https://www.reikinewportbeach.com or reach me on Instagram @barepits @womeneedz https://barepits.com/
