Meet MillertimeX

We were lucky to catch up with MillertimeX recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have MillertimeX with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I credit my work ethic to my mother. Growing up, I watched her work tirelessly to ensure we always had clothes on our backs and food on the table. Her dedication taught me that no matter the circumstances whether high or low you must keep faith in God, stay driven, and keep pushing forward until you reach or even surpass your goals.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Im part of a collective and family called Label Legit. We’re a powerhouse in music, representing the talent and culture of St. Louis, East St. Louis, and Chicago.

The group consists of East st Louis artist MillertimeX, Chicago’s own BuddhaShawn, and St. Louis’s OGTrinidad. What makes Label Legit stand out is the bond between its members. MillertimeX and OGTrinidad are blood relatives, while BuddhaShawn is considered a brother in every sense of the word family by choice. “We’re all cut from a different cloth, and that’s what makes us special,” they say.

Each member brings an impressive range of skills and artistry.

• OGTrinidad is a multi-talented artist she models, bartends, engineers, raps, and more, all while being a dedicated mother.
• BuddhaShawn is also multi-talented a journalist, streamer, musician, father, and computer tech, to name a few.
• MillertimeX (myself) is an athlete, coach, artist, engineer, graphic designer, and the founder of Label Legit.

What excites me most about what we do is how we connect with people. Our mission isn’t just about music it’s about sharing real messages that people can relate to, whether through our songs or even a simple conversation.

At the end of the day, Label Legit is for the people. That’s what makes us different, and that’s what keeps us moving forward.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, I’d say the three qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey were creativity, positivity, and faith. Creativity is what allows me to express myself, stand out, and keep pushing boundaries in what I do. Staying positive keeps me moving forward even when challenges come, because mindset is everything. faith and keeping God at the center reminds me that no matter what, there’s a bigger plan at work.

For anyone early in their journey, my advice is this protect your creativity and don’t be afraid to think differently, because that’s your gift. Keep your mind positive, even when things don’t look like they’re working out, and stay prayed up. If you do those things consistently, you’ll be amazed at how doors start to open and how God puts everything into place.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

If we’re being real, first and foremost, it’s God who has helped me the most in overcoming challenges and building the qualities I needed to succeed. That foundation of faith keeps me grounded and focused.

Secondly, our supporters both the day-one fans and the new ones have played a huge role. They push us to keep improving, even when the criticism comes. That kind of feedback helps us grow as artists and as people.

Third, I’d have to say my haters. I’ve always been told that if you don’t have haters, you’re not really doing your job. As crazy as it sounds, sometimes your haters and even strangers end up being your biggest supporters. It’s a backwards world, but it fuels me to keep going.
