Meet Millie Garcia

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Millie Garcia. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Millie below.

Millie, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I’ve had a few business ideas since I was 8 years old. My first business was making cupcakes with my sister then I started my candle making business when I was 12 years old. At first I only offered customers a choice of two jars and 6 scents which sold really well so I decided to take it a bit more serious and developed my business to a fully bespoke made to order service. I now have a selection of 7 jars and 13 scents for customers to choose from and have recently starting making car diffusers. I think my confidence has grown from being passionate about what I do, so I never cut corners and seeing good results is a huge boost! I’ve had so much positive feedback from customers who have loved their candles and I am growing by learning from my mistakes.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m now 13 years old and want to be a successful entrepreneur before I get to 18 years old. I think what makes my business special is that all the scented candles I make are bespoke. I do sometimes get orders for single generic scents like lavender etc but they still choose the jar they want! So I haven’t made two identical candles yet, so I sell candles that no one else has got and that’s pretty cool. I also wanted my business to be sustainable so I wanted to offer customers another unique service on any glass candle jar purchases; so that they can purchase a refill instead of buying a new jar. This saves customers money and reduces waste. I use soy wax to reduce carbon and toxin emissions and no plastics in my packaging. I’m really excited to see how I can grow and develop my business in 2025.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I am creative, ambitious and a bit of a perfectionist. I try to do everything to the best of my ability and so far my customers seem really impressed and happy with my customer service and product packaging and delivery.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I would love to collaborate with a home-ware shop or brand, so that I can supply candles. My dream is to see my candles in stocked in Department stores like John Lewis or stocked in small boutiques.
