We recently connected with Milo . and have shared our conversation below.
Milo, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
To be honest, I haven’t always been the most confident person. I was born with a bit of a diva attitude that helped me through much of my childhood, but once I hit my teenage years, I became more aware of societal standards. That’s when my emotions and anxieties really started to grow. From ages 15 to 19, I struggled significantly with depression. I turned to self-harm and unhealthy coping mechanisms like drinking and smoking, putting myself in situations that didn’t bring me happiness. I felt like I was losing myself.
It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom that I finally took the time to learn about myself, understand what I truly deserve, and recognize my capabilities. Discovering my worth and realizing how many people love me were crucial steps in pulling myself out of that dark place. I remember my mom and I would fight often about my choices, and her heartfelt words, “I don’t even recognize my son anymore,” hit me deeply and inspired me to change.
Now, I see the value in who I am, and I find myself in spaces I never thought I’d be in. It’s been a long, internal battle—with many ups and downs—but I promise that if you keep fighting and living for yourself, you will come out stronger in the end.
It’s so important to look within and discover what genuinely makes you happy. It’s not always easy, and the path isn’t straightforward, but striving to be a little better every day is a worthwhile pursuit, and I truly believe that better days will come.
Now, I’m happy, sober, and focused on living life one day at a time, getting better and greater with each passing moment. I cherish the fact that I love myself, and I’m grateful for the loving support of my family and friends. With that, I know that everything is going to be okay.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Mistakes – I view my mistakes not as failures but as opportunities to learn. Instead of dwelling on what went wrong, I focus on understanding how to avoid repeating those miatskes. Each mistake is a chance to improve and ensure I don’t make the same choice in the future, whether it’s about trust, business decisions, or other areas of my life. I’d rather learn from my missteps than dwell on them.
Hospitality – I’ve been working in hospitality since 2016, and this journey has taught me the art of adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Dealing with diverse customers and the myriad challenges that arise has shaped my ability to stand my ground and navigate through various situations. In hospitality, each role often requires juggling multiple responsibilities—from crisis management to cash handling and inventory management—all while maintaining a smile. This experience has instilled in me the importance of professionalism and exceptional customer service. It’s a reminder that how we present ourselves, whether as individuals or as a business, influences how we are perceived. Through this journey, I’ve learned to carry myself with confidence under pressure and thrive in any workplace
Industry – When working in the industry, you’ll meet a diverse array of people from different backgrounds, each with their own dreams and motives. It’s crucial to stay true to yourself and not to follow others based on appearances. Many may project a façade, showcasing only what’s on the surface. Getting caught in this vortex can lead you into a false universe where your energy is sought after by those who may not have your best interests at heart. Some may try to diminish your worth while seeking to take from you. Regardless of the energy you encounter, focus on being authentic and seek out individuals who genuinely support you and stand by you through mistakes and challenges. Stay true to yourself, and find your true tribe.
