Meet Mimi Foxx

We recently connected with Mimi Foxx and have shared our conversation below.

Mimi, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I think going through my early to mid- twenties really solidified my self worth and helped me really put my best foot forward. During those years I had a lot of life lessons to learn and go through to get me to the point I am at today. As a young adult in the music scene you get a lot of feedback and constant harsh criticism, but that only made me work harder and that really helped me be confident in myself, and in my work. I used to be really hard on myself in my earlier twenties because you’re so unsure of yourself at times. The older I have gotten , the more hardships and struggles I’ve had to face. The tough times have really helped me understand who I am and have the confidence to know I can succeed at anything I put my mind to.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am an independent artist who loves sharing her heart and soul through music. I have been singing practically all my life, and it wasn’t until 2019 that I really decided I was going to pursue an actual career in music. I make different genres of pop music including, but not limited to, Dance Pop, Pop R&B, and regular Pop music. I feel what is most special about my artistry is the roller coaster of emotions that can be found in my repertoire of music. My brand is like wearing my heart on my sleeve, the music that I have made as Mimi Foxx has really shown who I am and who I was at different parts of the past few years of my life. My goal is to travel the world and share a bit of myself with the world through my music.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I think one of the most important things I have learned this far in my singing career would be that talent alone is not enough to make it in the industry. Most times and scenarios the people with the most success in career field like this are ones that have great social skills, the music industry is one where you simply have to be a people person. It is really important in all facets of a singers career, from interacting with crowds on stage, to everyday making connections.
Another important thing I have learned is to not be so sensitive, you have to have tough skin in this industry. I think a great way to combat receiving criticism or comments is to be sure in yourself, and to be open to others thoughts and opinions as well as your own.
The last piece of advice I would have to share on this would be that you have to fully believe in yourself , your project, and the impact you have on the world. I call it your passion and purpose, those are the two things that have driven me and gave me the push to keep going in the industry, I whole heartedly believe you have to be your biggest fan and your advocate.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My childhood best friend, Gigi Gustin, has really helped support me in the pursuit of my dreams for twenty years now. Gigi is an American actress based in LA now. She and I have been friends for twenty years and its nice to have someone who is also in the creative industry and to know she is going through the same struggle that every artist deals with when youre first getting serious into the scene. Anytime I have ever felt stuck or confused in my dreams and passions she is always there to uplift me and remind me why I chose to do this and how it will all be worth it, Seeing her succeed in her dreams has actually been a continuous motivating factor for me in pursuit of my own ambitions, I am not sure what I would do with our her
