Meet Mimi Nichole

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mimi Nichole. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mimi below.

Mimi, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

My optimism blossoms from many areas of my life, deeply rooted in seeds planted during my childhood. As a little girl, I witnessed both of my parents maintain a positive attitude even during incredibly tough times. Their example showed me that optimism isn’t just a feeling, it’s a lifeline. It was literally what got our family through some of our hardest moments.

I remember my mother pushing through while raising four daughters and managing the household, all while my father worked tirelessly to provide for us. That was no easy task, but she met each day with a hopeful outlook and strength in her responsibilities. Her ability to stay positive through exhaustion and sacrifice made a lasting impression on me.

My father is another reason I hold optimism so close to my heart. He has faced countless hardships and continues to live with serious health issues, any one of which could be debilitating if he let them. But he doesn’t. He chooses to press forward with courage and grace.

Because of their influence, and by the grace of God, I’ve learned to meet life’s curveballs not as setbacks but as invitations to rise. I’ve gone through my own difficult seasons, and I know for a fact that I wouldn’t have made it out had I stayed in that shadowed space. I’m human, I’ve fallen many times, but optimism has always helped me rise again. It’s a gift, a practice, and over time, it becomes a lifestyle.

Today, I encourage and challenge you: look for the good, even when it feels like there’s nothing good to see. There is always something to learn in every situation. Breathe in a positive smile. Expect the best out of your day. Move with love in your heart and gratitude in your spirit.

Optimism is essential in today’s world. Without it, the constant flood of negativity can weigh you down. That’s why it’s imperative to focus on what you can control, and the one thing always within your power is your perspective. When you shift your mindset, the world around you begins to shift in ways you never imagined.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

When I think about who I am, I think about many different things. For a long time, I felt like I had to separate all the roles I held—my music, my business, my creative expression—but recently, I’ve been doing the inner work to embrace all of who I am, fully and unapologetically. I no longer see myself in fragments. Everything I do is connected and flows from the same source: purpose.

By nature, I’m a singer and a leader. Along my journey, I’ve grown into a songwriter, actress, dancer, and more recently, a professional life insurance agent. I’ve been busy, y’all—doing my best to help families secure their futures so that, God forbid something happens, their loved ones are protected. It’s meaningful work, and I feel blessed to do it.

What excites me most right now is using my music platform as a bridge—bringing people together not just through performance, but through empowerment, resources, and real-life support. There’s nothing like a great show and some solid information to help folks live better lives.

Helping people is what I’m about. It means the world to me to lift someone up, share knowledge, plant a seed of wisdom, or simply show them a new way forward. Since I was a little girl, I’ve been known for my voice—and I love that—but I’ve also always had a businesswoman inside me. Exercising that “boss woman” power in a meaningful and positive way is part of my mission.

My life’s work is about leaving a positive impact, no matter what platform I’m standing on.

In terms of my musical journey, it’s been a gift and a slow brew—something that’s developed over time with care and intention. God has opened doors I never thought I’d walk through, and I know my calling is to use my voice and my heart to reach the world. With God leading the way, that’s exactly what I plan to do.

My music is available on all platforms—my debut album is titled Circles by Mimi Nichole. Circles is a Pop/R&B album that delivers messages of self-realization, self-worth, and the journey of growth. The audience I aim to reach is everyone—because the message is universal, and I truly believe I have something for every soul to connect with. One of the featured visuals from the project is the music video for “Butterflies,” beautifully choreographed by the talented Allison Ruth, you can follow her on instagram at @thatdancerallison . It’s a celebration of movement, emotion, and feminine power that brings one of the album’s themes to life in a powerful way.

In addition to that, I’ve built a beautiful relationship with The Borough KC, a neighborhood restaurant located at 8026 Paseo. What started as a simple stop-in for ice cream turned into a live gig—and eventually grew into a full artist residency. It’s a space filled with good energy, community love, and incredible support for local talent. For performance updates and the event calendar, follow them on Instagram at @theborough_kc .

I’m honored to share that I’ve been nominated for Best Female Vocalist for the 2025 Kansas City People’s Choice Awards, created by Terrell Ray. This will be the 7th annual awards ceremony, and the winners will be announced on July 27th, 2025, at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. It’s such a blessing to be recognized by my hometown, and I’m beyond excited to be part of a celebration that uplifts local excellence. You can follow the awards on Instagram at @kcpcawards for updates.

I’m proud to be a part of The Battery Tour, founded by AY Young, right here in Kansas City. The tour started with solar-powered concerts after AY lost access to traditional power sources—and that innovation caught the attention of the United Nations. AY was named one of the UN’s Youth Leaders and together we released Project 17, an album that raises awareness about the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These days, we’re traveling the world performing uplifting, sustainability-focused music that inspires people to “plug in” to a better future. Show dates are coming soon—you can follow us on Instagram at @batterytour and @Mimi_Nichole for updates.

Finally, it’s a true honor to be represented by The Next Paige Talent Agency, founded by powerhouse visionary Elaina Paige, Kansas City’s first Black-owned, women-led talent agency. They represent a wide range of creatives—from actors and dancers to singers, content creators, and even professional athletes. Being part of this agency has opened up doors that once felt out of reach and has truly expanded what’s possible for Kansas City talent. You can follow their journey and the incredible artists they represent on Instagram at @thenextpaigetalentagency.

At the end of the day, I just want to be a light—through my music, my message, and my mission. Every note I sing, every stage I step on, and every conversation I have is rooted in love, growth, and purpose. I’m grateful for every opportunity to connect with people, uplift spirits, and create spaces where we can all feel seen, inspired, and empowered.

The journey is still unfolding, and I’m walking it with faith, passion, and an open heart. I truly believe the best is yet to come—and I can’t wait to share it with the world. Stay tuned, stay plugged in, and most of all… stay inspired. 💫

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, commitment, and consistency.

My advice for anyone who’s just starting out—or even those who’ve been on the path for a while—is to keep those three values at the forefront of everything you do. Being an artist or entrepreneur isn’t easy. It comes with unexpected roadblocks, twists, and turns. But when you stay committed to your purpose, you develop the resilience to push through those tough times.

Consistency is powerful—even if you’re only taking one small step a day, you’re still building something strong and lasting. Progress isn’t always loud or flashy, but it’s always meaningful.

When you feel tired, discouraged, or doubtful, pause and reconnect with your why. Remind yourself of the purpose that started it all. We need you. We need what you have to offer. The world is waiting to hear from you—so stay prayed up, stay positive, and stay ready for action.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

If I knew I only had one decade left to live, I would move with even more intention—no time wasted, as it should already be. I think so many of us take time for granted, assuming we have plenty of it, and we delay things that could be done today.

With only ten years, my purpose would sharpen: I would focus on uplifting as many people as possible. My goal would be to help others get in a better position—emotionally, spiritually, and especially financially—so that when it’s their time to transition, their families aren’t burdened by the cost of death.

I’d pour my energy into insuring lives and securing legacies, while also traveling the world, connecting with people through music, and leading with love in my heart. Those would be the two main pillars of how I’d spend that decade: helping people prepare for what’s next, while celebrating life in the now
