Meet Mimi Wright

We were lucky to catch up with Mimi Wright recently and have shared our conversation below.

Mimi, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

My optimism comes from my faith, my family, and my belief in the power of community. I’ve seen firsthand how hard work and positivity can lead to incredible opportunities. Even when things get tough, I look for solutions instead of dwelling on the challenges. Surrounding myself with like-minded people who uplift and encourage me also keeps my outlook bright. Life has shown me that setbacks are temporary and that every obstacle is a setup for something better.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m passionate about helping businesses and organizations stand out through impactful branding, and I’m proud to lead Instant Imprints South Houston, a business I took over ownership of in June 2024. Since then, we’ve been on an exciting journey of growth and recognition.

Our recent certifications as a Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) and a Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) through the City of Houston have been pivotal milestones for us. These certifications highlight our commitment to excellence and our dedication to serving the diverse Houston community. We’ve also been honored to be named one of HTown’s Best printing services, a recognition that underscores the quality and care we bring to every project.

Additionally, I was recently appointed as a Local Leader of the Women’s Council of Entrepreneurs (WCE), an organization dedicated to connecting and empowering women entrepreneurs through a supportive community and resources. This role allows me to connect with and uplift other entrepreneurs in the area, fostering a collaborative environment for growth and success.

I’m also thrilled to have completed the Partner to Empower cohort, a program by Brookfield Properties that provides financial resources and retail expertise to minority business owners, aiming to break down systemic racial barriers in retail. This experience has further strengthened my ability to grow and lead effectively, equipping me with valuable insights and connections.

Professionally, I’m most excited about our recent contract wins with Clear Lake ISD, Humble ISD, Texas City ISD, and Friendswood ISD. As approved vendors for multiple school districts in the Houston area, we’re proud to support education and local initiatives through high-quality branding solutions.

At Instant Imprints, we specialize in being a one-stop shop for custom branding, offering services like embroidery, screen printing, promotional products, and more. Our mission is to help businesses, schools, and organizations tell their stories and make an impact through professional, creative solutions.

This journey has been nothing short of rewarding, and I’m excited to continue building meaningful relationships and growing both our business and community impact.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful qualities and skills in my journey have been resilience, relationship-building, and adaptability.

Resilience:
Challenges are inevitable, but resilience is what helps you push through and learn from them. My journey has been full of moments where I had to adjust, regroup, and keep going—whether it was stepping into a new role, navigating the ups and downs of business ownership, or managing competing priorities. For those early in their journey, I’d advise focusing on developing a strong mindset. Surround yourself with people who encourage you, invest in self-care, and always remind yourself of your “why” when things get tough.

Relationship-Building:
Success doesn’t happen in isolation. Building authentic relationships with customers, partners, and peers has been essential in growing my business and opening doors I didn’t even know existed. As a local leader with the Women’s Council of Entrepreneurs (WCE), I’ve learned firsthand the power of community and collaboration. My advice? Be intentional about networking. Attend events, listen more than you speak, and always follow up with a genuine interest in helping others succeed.

Adaptability:
The ability to pivot when needed has been a game-changer for me. Whether it’s embracing new technology, responding to market trends, or learning something new, adaptability has kept me relevant and ready for growth. Completing the Partner to Empower cohort taught me how to approach challenges with a fresh perspective and apply creative solutions. My advice for developing adaptability is to stay curious—read, ask questions, and be open to feedback. The more you learn, the more prepared you’ll be for change.

For anyone starting their journey, remember this: growth is a process. Focus on building a strong foundation of skills and relationships, and don’t be afraid to take calculated risks. Each step you take, even the small ones, brings you closer to your goals.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Absolutely, I am always looking to partner and collaborate with individuals, businesses, and organizations that share a commitment to growth, creativity, and community impact. Collaboration is at the heart of everything I do.

I’m particularly excited to build relationships with:

Corporate Clients: Providing custom branding solutions for internal events, corporate gifting, and employee recognition programs.

Schools and Universities: Supporting educational institutions with team uniforms, event banners, spirit wear, and branded merchandise for students and staff.

Nonprofit Organizations: Helping nonprofits amplify their message with impactful signage, promotional materials, and event branding that fit within their budgets.

Sports Teams and Leagues: Partnering with youth and adult leagues to deliver custom uniforms, banners, and fan merchandise that strengthen team pride.

Local Businesses: Working with small and medium-sized businesses to enhance their visibility with branded materials that reflect their unique identity.

Event Planning Companies: Partnering with event planners to create standout signage, branded materials, and promotional items that make events unforgettable.

Marketing Agencies: Collaborating on campaigns that require innovative branding solutions to bring creative visions to life.
