Meet Ming Xuan

We recently connected with Ming Xuan and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ming Xuan, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

My optimism has always been a natural part of who I am—I’ve always seen the glass as half full. I credit this outlook to the positive influences I was surrounded by during my childhood, especially my mother. She’s my rock. She’s incredibly kind, with an amazing ability to face challenges head-on, always emerging stronger. Her resilience and warmth have been a huge inspiration to me.

Because of her example, I’ve learned to focus on solutions rather than problems and to practice gratitude, which helps me maintain a positive perspective even in tough situations. Her influence has truly shaped the way I see the world and approach life with optimism.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Ming Xuan and I enjoy creating videos on my favourite dining spots around Metro Detroit, which I then post to my instagram page @talkingdoll

I grew up in Singapore, where food is a central part of life and culture and I was constantly surrounded by incredible flavors and experiences from a young age. When I started my Instagram account, @talkingdoll, it naturally became a space to share my love for food and the memories I created around it. Over time, as I moved to different places, my Instagram evolved into a personal journal, documenting my travels and the diverse cuisines I encountered along the way.

When I settled in Michigan, I was thrilled to discover a food scene that was just beginning to flourish. With new cafes and restaurants popping up across Metro Detroit, my excitement for exploring and trying everything reignited, just like it did back home in Singapore.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

For me personally, some of the important qualities to have are optimism, consistency, and strong communication. There will be times when things get tough, and in those moments, it is essential to remain resilient, focus on finding solutions, and believe in your ability to overcome challenges. Consistency is also key, especially when it comes to posting regularly. To stay on track, it might be useful to set clear goals, create a schedule, and stick to it. This approach helps to build momentum and keeps you focused on your path forward.
Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of good communication. It’s necessary for creating engaging stories and connecting meaningfully with those around you!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m always excited about collaborations and would love to work with anyone who shares a passion for creativity and community.

Whether you’re a small business owner or someone looking to create content to engage their local community, I would be thrilled to connect with you. Feel free to reach out via email at talkingdolleats@gmail.com or DM me directly on Instagram @talkingdoll.
