Meet Minnie Erickson

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Minnie Erickson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Minnie, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Minnieology®️ Gifts started accidentally several years ago when Minnie wrapped gifts for close friends with milestone birthdays. The project ended on the back burner, with her event planning corporate job demanding the focus. When she left her corporate job in August 2018 to focus on her health and building a family, she was inspired to start Minnieology®️ up again when putting together gifts for two best girlfriends turning 40. They are busy working moms, and she wanted to make them feel loved and special on their birthdays. Organically, she started to decorate the interior box flaps to add a personal touch.

Creating thoughtful gifts and making non-toxic candles and reed diffusers kept Minnie busy being creative and helped her through her infertility grief. She lights up when she can help others, especially with thoughtful gift-giving.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
The concept for Minnieology Gifts is to help busy women send thoughtful and personal gifts, as it has become a lost art in this modern age where we click and ship gifts over the internet. The recipient would receive a standard box in the mail; however, upon opening, they would be surprised with the personalized decorated box flaps and thoughtful gifts. We can create a custom box for those going through something significant in their life. The most significant response received to date is that these aren’t your ordinary gift boxes; it’s like a hug in a box, and there have been happy tears. It takes it a step further to showcase your thoughtfulness truly.

Each box is designed and made with love for your special people in mind, as well as the environment. Products from other small businesses are thoughtfully selected with reusable, recyclable, and packaging. We want to make the recipient feel the love without creating environmental waste.

Gift boxes can be for any occasion or life event:
Anniversaries, Baby Gifts, Birthdays, Breast Cancer Support, Care Packages, Engagement, Fertility Support, Graduation, Housewarming, New Adventures, New Chapters, Retirement, Sympathy, Thank You, Thinking of You, and Weddings.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Empathy, thoughtfulness, and an entrepreneurial mindset are important to help you learn about your industry. Nothing will happen perfectly, you’ll have wins and losses, and you learn from those losses. Be mindful of your budget and your why. It’s ok if something doesn’t work out, and you must learn to pivot to a new vision. Do your research and ask others for their opinion on your product and services.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My parents are immigrants from Vietnam and came over to the US with literally nothing. They worked all day and hard to provide for our family. I didn’t understand it when I was younger, but I learned my work from them. I learned that you have to put in the work to make a profit, and you also have to try new things to keep up with the trends.
