Meet Miracle Monét

We recently connected with Miracle Monét and have shared our conversation below.

Miracle, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from seeing both my parents beat cancer and push through their own life challenges. They were my first examples of what resilience looks like. It also comes from having faith. My faith plays the biggest part in my ability to bounce back the way I do. I know that nothing is impossible with God. One of my daily mantras is, “There’s nothing I can’t do”, and I believe it. I have convinced myself, through faith, that I am capable of taking on anything that is thrown my way because I’m not facing it alone.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), psychotherapist and coach. I specialize in confidence building, narcissistic abuse recovery, and reparenting the inner child. Empowering others is my passion because so many of us have been taught to dim our light. The feeling I get when people realize their power is the best feeling in the world to me! I have always been an advocate, and I enjoy it so much.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three of my most impactful qualities during my journey have been curiosity, faithfulness, and audacity.

Curiosity allowed me to be honest and transparent with myself. I knew that after a divorce and custody battle over my 5-month old daughter, I was broken. However, because of the brokenness, I developed a relentless desire to learn who I truly was and how ended up in such a dark place. In my search for self, I found peace in trusting God. I let go of the urge to control outcomes or perceptions, and I simply focused on faith. I understood that I could only do so much, and God had to take over the rest. It gave me a level of peace that saved my life. Lastly, because I put my faith and trust in higher power, I was able to move with boldness and intentionality. I finally had the audacity to believe in my voice and strength, and embrace the more confident and empowered version of myself.

My advice to anyone on their journey is to embrace the brokenness, silence and isolation. It is your spiritual gym. This is where you find out what you are made of. The training wheels have to come off before you ride off into the sunset. Always remember that your faith is what activates the blessings.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

The first book my therapist recommended to me many years ago was a book called ‘Boundaries’ by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. It changed my life. I was completely unaware that I lacked boundaries, and I definitely didn’t know I had the power to set limits on how much I exposed myself to behaviors that negatively affected me. I was a “people pleaser” and always paid the price for it. The book talked about how God even sets boundaries. Once I read that, I was initially shocked that I’d never viewed boundaries in this way, but I felt liberated! Needless to say, my marriage ended shortly after reading this gem!
