We recently connected with Miracle Pelayo and have shared our conversation below.
MIRACLE , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose when I asked the Holy Spirit for my vocation at 4. Jesus kept showing me a vision of the acting marker and a set chair for me on a set with my name on it. I also kept seeing the color green, which is the color of Cerebral Palsy. I also saw His face through the camera lens, smiling at me. I then realized that He was calling me to the industry where He wanted people to see Him and bring Him with me in every aspect of my career. I then heard Jesus say to me so clearly, ” I WILL GIVE YOU A TALENT THAT WILL CHANGE THE WORLD AND BRING MY CHILDREN TO ME, BE THE VOICE OF YOUR OWN KIND.” I then realized that Jesus asked me to use my talent and purpose for Him. He wanted me to bring His particle sons and daughters to Him. When I am acting or doing a photoshoot, I want people to see Jesus and feel His presence. I want people to hear His words when I speak. I want them to feel the Holy Spirit when it moves when He calls me to talk to people.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
What I am most excited about in sharing my story of being in the entertainment industry is touching many hearts with God’s love. When I am acting or doing something creative with being a social media influencer, or as an actor. I think about the ones who have a disability just like me and how much this will give them hope in knowing they can chase after their dreams as well. As an artist, for me, it is not about how many followers there are on your page, but the message you are trying to reach and give people hope. When I am on set, it feels like Disneyland to me because I know I am moving mountains for other people and fulfilling a ministry that is a blessing to so many others. Yes, I love playing pretend for a living, but what I think about is making way for others and opening up doors for others with a disability who have been waiting to see themselves represented in the media. I want to break down that door so another artist with disabilities can go through that door and have a place to shine. I get excited when I get an audition from my reps because it means I am making a way with the Mercy of Jesus to show my PWDs that it is possible if you just believe in yourself.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
One of the things that helped me the most in my career and in my skills as an actor is ACTING CLASSES. ACTING CLASSES taught me so much about listening and connecting to people. Collaborating with other artists taught me so much about creativity and how to use your platform in the most positive ways. In Acting Classes, you learn about listening and connecting with people on a personal level, and that has helped me so much in daily conversations with people I work with and hearing what they need to say or even asking me questions. I have learned from other content creators who have disabilities how important having a community is and what you can do to make a difference. It’s not just about posting a beautiful picture of you online but the message you are trying to send across to Impact and change people. I’ve also learned that making connections and important relationships is key. I have worked with some amazing casting directors that I still have relationships with to this very day and they have been so incredible to me in getting me where I am today. Relationships can go such a long way, and you never know what they can do for your life or how much you change them. You have to find the right connections to help you do what you are called to do.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
One of the most helpful things that helped me overcome my trials and challenges, especially in this competitive industry, is PRAYER, and having the best support system helped encourage me to keep going on the journey that God called me to do. When I give Jesus everything in my heart and I lay everything down at His feet, I know He is working on this for me on my behalf. When it comes to rejection as an actor, you have to not take everything so personally and have to keep going in your art.
Hearing the word, NO pushes me harder to get a YES. Jesus says in Isaiah 41:10, ” WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT, I THE LORD WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN. No matter what challenge you are facing in your calling, you have to know that you have a loving Heavenly Father who is working things out for your greater good. NEVER GIVE UP AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.
