Meet Miracle Wright-Lindo

We were lucky to catch up with Miracle Wright-Lindo recently and have shared our conversation below.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi My name is Miracle Wright-Lindo, Im 19 years old and I’m currently a Junior at Grambling State University. I’d like to call the stage of life I’m in right now elevation. I graduated high school in the middle of a pandemic entering college at 16 years old. At that time I was a fresh double major trying navigate her way around a new school but I had an amazing support team back home cheering me on. As I enter my senior year, Im really excited for all that I have in store. I was recently selected to perform at the 12th Annual ULS Academic Summit. The Academic Summit presents instances of undergraduate experiential learning at UL System Universities as models of academic excellence. Presentations will be centered on outstanding research, service-learning, visual arts, and performing arts initiatives from each university. I’ll be performing along side Jaeda Garner, an original piece Destiny Berry called “A Dollhouse Falling”. For the Black Seed Project, which is supported by The National Academy of Black Arts and Letters, Ms. Berry authored the award-winning play Dollhouse Falling. In the play, a young woman trying to find her place in the world goes through a trip that ends up being the trigger for her dysfunctional family’s healing. In the manner of a staged reading, we will present a 5-minute scene from the play. I’m so excited to be representing my school in this years summit and I cant wait for the outcome.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
One thing I can say that has helped me along the way is having people support me and help me with decisions along the way. Everyones journey is tailored to them and it’s not foreign to have struggles but you always need a support team. A support system is a group of people you have in your life who can help you out emotionally or practically When you have a support system, you have individuals you can turn to when you need them most. It implies that there are people you can count on any time you find yourself in a challenging circumstance. My Mom, Dad, Brother, Aunt and peers support me very chance to do and I’m not sure I would’ve made it three years in college without them. An area of knowledge I’d say thats important is to stay confident in what your doing. We feel more prepared for life’s experiences when we are confident. Confident people are more willing to advance with opportunities and people rather than retreat from them. And if something initially doesn’t work out, confidence encourages us to try again. My only advice I have to give, is to have patience. Within the office and in your personal life, patience can be a useful trait to have. Setting goals, and overcoming barriers in your job can all be facilitated by patience. You may better appreciate the value of this essential ability both within and outside of the business by learning how to be patient and what its advantages are.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was allowing me to away to college so young. My parents are always supporting my decisions but I didn’t think they would be this supportive of me going away at such a young age. Not only was I 16 but also in the middle of a pandemic of a never before seen disease. I think what made me most nervous were peoples opinions because not everyone as supportive as my parents and frowned on the idea of going away to school at that age. But from my parents perspective, they felt like they’ve taught me enough to allow me to make my own choices. I confidently felt I was ready just by the life skills my parents had instilled in me and I’m so glad I didn’t let anyone negative comments affect one of my biggest life decision. Now here I am, in my Junior year counting the days to my future graduation and ready for what life after college has to offer me.
