Meet Mirjana Vidic

We were lucky to catch up with Mirjana Vidic recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Mirjana with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic is deeply rooted in my upbringing and personal experiences. Growing up in Serbia, I was fortunate to have parents who exemplified hard work and dedication. They instilled in me the value of perseverance and the importance of putting in the effort to achieve my goals.

Additionally, my academic background, with a master’s degree in history, required a significant amount of studying and reading. This experience taught me discipline and the ability to focus on long-term objectives, which I apply to my photography business.

Starting my photography journey from scratch was both challenging and rewarding. What began as a hobby in my childhood has evolved into a passion-driven career. The combination of my parents’ influence, my educational experiences, and my commitment to pursuing my passion has shaped my strong work ethic today.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I specialize in capturing the essence of love and connection through photography, primarily focusing on couples. While I also enjoy photographing products, food, families, and headshots, my true passion lies in surprise marriage proposals. There’s something incredibly special about those moments—the raw emotion, the energy, and the love that radiates between two people. I strive to capture these genuine expressions without relying heavily on posed shots, allowing the authenticity of the moment to shine through.

Through my lens, I tell stories that might otherwise fade into oblivion. Each photograph is a narrative, a snapshot of a unique experience that holds significant meaning for the individuals involved. I believe that photography is not just about taking pictures; it’s about preserving memories and emotions that can be cherished for a lifetime.

Currently, I’m excited to announce that I’m expanding my services to include personalized photography packages tailored specifically for couples planning their proposals. This includes pre-proposal consultations to help create a unique and memorable experience. Additionally, I am working on a new project focused on destination elopements, which allows couples to celebrate their love in breathtaking locations around the world.

I’m also exploring collaborations with local businesses to showcase their products in a way that highlights the artistry behind both photography and their offerings. Ultimately, my goal is to create a brand that resonates with people on a personal level, where every image reflects the beauty of human connection and the stories we all carry.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back on my journey, three qualities have been particularly impactful: my curiosity, organizational skills, and creativity.

Firstly, my curiosity drives me to constantly seek knowledge and explore different perspectives. This quality has allowed me to grow not only as a photographer but also as a storyteller. I believe that being open to learning and understanding various viewpoints enriches my work and helps me connect with my subjects on a deeper level.

Secondly, my organizational skills have been crucial in managing the various aspects of my photography business. From scheduling shoots to keeping track of client communications and project timelines, being organized allows me to focus on the creative side of my work without getting overwhelmed by the logistics.

Lastly, my creativity fuels my passion for photography. It enables me to see the world through a unique lens and capture moments in ways that resonate with others. Creativity is not just about artistic expression; it’s also about problem-solving and thinking outside the box, which is essential in this field.

For those who are early in their journey, my advice is to keep dreaming and take actionable steps toward those dreams every day, even if it’s just for five minutes. Consistency is key. Whether it’s practicing your craft, learning a new technique, or networking with others in your field, every small effort adds up over time. Remember, step by step, you can reach your goals and turn your dreams into reality. Embrace your curiosity, stay organized, and let your creativity shine!

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I take a step back from city life and immerse myself in nature. Traveling, camping, and spending time in the mountains or deserts allows me to disconnect and recharge. I find that stargazing and simply being present in the moment help me regain my perspective and clarity.

Nature has a unique way of grounding us, and I make it a priority to breathe in the fresh air and soak in the beauty around me. This time away from the hustle and bustle is essential for recharging my batteries and finding balance in my life.

For anyone feeling overwhelmed, I recommend finding your own escape, whether it’s a short trip to a nearby park or a weekend getaway. Taking time to reconnect with nature can provide the mental space needed to reset and refocus. Remember, it’s important to prioritize self-care and give yourself permission to take a break when needed.
